By the same token you could argue that a move to the Big 12 would make it easier to attract -- and keep -- good coaches moreso than the current circumstance Louisville finds itself in.

^ That makes me very jealous. UofL's athletic department still manages to extract a fee from every enrolled student. Horrible.

Somebody has to pay for that new 2 million dollar Boat House they just built the Crew team at UL...a crew team that loses over a million dollars a year.

UK has a major dilemma on their hands. They will obviously want to drop U of L, as it will hinder their bowl eligibility status. the pressure from the Comonwealth will be very interesting. I can't wait to see this unfold.

It would hinder their status by playing this game as well as playing 9 conference games. But now with 8 being the magic number for now, UK's schedule is actually easier now than it has been. They get to keep UL on the schedule and play one less West team.

But see, you have the Kragthorpe era that brought everything back down. As it stands, Louisville has a very up coming coach. One who is recruiting kids to the school better than anyone ever has. Can't read the future, but, if he stays awhile....I see Louisville being in the Top 25 more than out of it.

That UK spends nearly as much on a glorified basketball practice as their entire football recruiting budget has a lot to do with why football will always suck at UK. And UK fans are OK with that, obviously.

The biggest arguement is that UK has settled for below average football way to long. There is no pressure put on the Administartion to be the best in football.

 

UK has raised it ticket prices every year for the last five years and UK fans still pay the price. But I don't see UK fans kicking the doors in demanding them to go after a Coach that will get it done. I also don't see the admin. spending dollars on Football they way the need to to keep up in recruiting.Does anyone think Rich Brooks is telling the truth? He is a tell it how it is type of guy. He says UK won't do what needs to be done.

 

Uh oh you better not say that. This UK fan pointed out the year that Rich Brooks was retiring that UK was messing up by just giving the job to Joker and not opening it up. However fellow UK fans were all over me saying that they don't need to, because UK can never become consistently good at football. So of coarse the administration is not going to feel any pressure to really truly try to get the football program going up, because the fans are happy with being mediocre and making small bowls.

 

Yes would it be hard for UK to ever be a top SEC school in football, yes no doubt. It may never happen, but they could get to a level to where they are consistenly better than what they are and every now and then truly competiting for a chance to win the SEC East. However that will never happen, because most fans don't believe it can happen. That was evident by people getting all over me for saying UK had a chance to take another step forward if they went out and hired the right coach. They were in a great position to do that when Brooks retired and people failed to see that.

Marketing for football is at least a half million dollars. 200k for one and only night of marketing for mens hoops which also included the womens team.

Most say its good for recruiting. Really? How many SEC caliber players come from the state of KY each year? If UK wins (most years) it doesnt help them by adding any quality to their wins and if they lose it almost means no bowl game. Just my opinion but UK has much bigger problems in football than playing UofL or not. The SEC just added two teams that will be better than UK most seasons so that climb from the bottom of the SEC just got bigger.
