Points records

Featured Replies

According to my calculations, Highlands has scored 576 points this year. A 10 game average of 57.6 points per game. The state record for points in a season is 801 held by the 1998 Bluebirds. That means Highlands needs to average 45 points a game through the state championship game to tie the record.

The average points per game record is 59.1 held by the 1930 Ashland Blazer team. To reach this mark, Highlands would need to average 62.2 points a game to tie. For second place on the average points per game list, Highlands would need to average 49.2 points per game to tie 1999 Lawrence County.

I don't see the average points per game record falling, but if Highlands is involved in some high scoring games, the total points record could possibly fall.

I highly doubt that Dale is concerned whether his team will break this record. If he were concerned he could have/would have already broke the record to date. I believe his idea of these records is if it happens great but Highlands isnt going to sell their souls to accomplish it. JMO.

Now, keep in mind there is never anything wrong with taking over the 2nd place with another Highlands team and being 2nd to uhhhhhhh............ Highlands. LOL

Does Highlands have a record book? Or is 20 the only number that matters??

2nd place is 797 points held by Boyle in 2000. My guess is that if this year's Birds score 798 they will find a way to make it to 801+. :thumb:

Wrong. The only number that has any meaning at all is 21.

UPDATE

In the 12 games Highlands has played, they have scored 706 points. They need 95 more points in 3 games to tie the state scoring record for most points in a season. They need to average 31 and 2/3 yards per game to accomplish that. Highlands will need to get past Cov Cath to do that.

I've added it up twice and get 716 points to date. BEAT CCH

I go there also and they still have the Dixie game as 51-13 which is the 10 point difference.

after 13 games the toal points stand at 765 which I think is fourth best total in the state records. The record of 801 could fall next week.

Before I get called out for the statement by the Biirds faithful, amend it to the record falls next week.

I will get some agreement and some dissent but Towles is the best QB that I have seen at Highlands. His weapons are great but he isn't surrounded by once in lifetime guys like Smith and Hamblen. Additionally, he runs the ball so well. Finally, he's allowed to audible which shows you what Coach Mueller thinks of his intelligence.

According to my calculations, Highlands is now at 755 points for the year. That is an average of just over 58 points a game. The record for a season is 801. In the final 2 games, Highlands needs to average only 23 points a game to tie the record, if they make it.

The KHSAA indicates Highlands has scored 765 points at present.
