All-BGP Team

So if we are to go by the stats you posted then Ron Blume gets penalized because we didn't HAVE to use him at kicking or on defense...Also it's not fair to compare the kick returns for TD's when NO ONE WOULD KICK TO RON OR any of other guys... they would rather kick out of bounds then take the chance on Ron or Shawn Grim returning it for a touchdown. I think it's sad that Blume led the state in rushing all season and still gets no respect from anyone on here or on WYMT.

The key point I was trying to make here was the comparison of Blume and Chaffin as potential canidates for the BGP Athlete Team. Since the criteria for selection to this team is based upon all-around performance on both sides of the ball plus special teams, these stats reveal clearly why Chaffin was chosen and Blume was not. There was no disrespect intended; but if you do not play both sides of the ball, you should not be a member of this Athlete Team.

I'm sure Blume was given heavy consideration for the Offensive Team, but there were only two spots available. Considering the high quality competition their teams faced during the season and their level of performance against this competition, Johnson and Anderson are hard to beat. I don't think Johnson Central's schedule helped Blume much in this regard.

That sounds a lot like what I said... I guess the healing has begun.

How can a kid make the Offense, Defense, special teams list if he didn't even play Defense? Blume should not have been on the All purpose team. Does that mean I don't think he should have been considered for the RB spot on offense? No. He deffinetly should have and I'm sure he was. But as I said before, there are only two spots, and in some cases, (depending on the position), one. Great athletes will always not be included on any such lists. The BGP team is not meant to be an all inclusive list.

I believe the question was why Ron wasn't one of the RBs...in that respect the list of stats didn't answer the question. Johnson Central played the games they were contracted to play....they may not be powerhouses in your opinion, but they were good teams. We can't really replace many of those games....such as the Paintsville game-it's a huge game for both schools, financially it supports both teams season expenses with just that one night....I mean over 7,000 people at 5 dollars a person plus concessions.

Of course it's okay with us if everyone thinks were not that strong....we like the looks on their faces after we beat them

Haven't seen those faces too much past the regular season, huh?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

You are incorrect. Oxnard's posts were in response to Blackwire's post that stated "Jimmy Chaffins is in as an ATHLETE why can't Ron..". It is obvious after further review that Blume shoudn't be considered under the heading of ATHLETE. I'm sure he was considered as one of the two RBs but came up short. I've never seen Blume play but I've seen both of the other two and they are fine choices. Maybe someone can do a detailed analysis of how Blume stacks up against Anderson and Johnson, might be interesting. One thing in Anderson and Johnson's favor is the only team that stopped either in the playoffs were the eventual 4A Champs. Thats pretty strong as well. :thumb:

Stats are not everything either. Though they may give an indication on the greatness of a player, they are not the end all. I think Blume is a great running back, as all of us would agree. I hate that he didn't make the list, but hey, I hate that alot of kids didn't make it. I also think that the name "Athlete list" is part of the confusion in some posters minds. It should be called the "Ironman" list, because to be on it, you basically had to excell at O, D, and ST's.

I Agree with all of you i wasnt aware of how good chaffins other stats other than offense were.. All that was ever talked about was his O....

And for the person that ask about were Ron is going to school i think he is leaning heavilly toward Morehead State.... He will get a bunch of financial help and Morehead isnt that costly anyway.. :thumb:
