I agree. I think Garrard will be better than people think. Not saying they are top ten but I think they may be better than Wayne and maybe even West Jessamine.

The Patriots of Lincoln County has a chance to win the 12th after seeing them this summer, watched them beat Scott County on their floor. They are young and will have nights were they play like it but by the end of the year they will be strong. Look for Southwestern, Lincoln, and Pulaski to fight it out in a well rounded region.

Lincoln has a chance but I don't they are or will be better than Boyle or East Jessamine. I know East may be missing Cameron Thomas for a little while and that may change East's chances but I expect Boyle to win the 45th district. On Lincoln's floor.

Yeah, I said it.

I think Lincoln Co. will be very competitive this year also. They have a strong junior class that could possibly by years end be ready to take the 12th region crown. Boyle, Pulaski and SW will be tough outs come tournament time though.

I still think this will be SW year. With the addition of Kapinga at the point, a state champion coach, along with the senior class and Edwards, they have the making of a regional championship team. There biggest weakness was going to be the point guard position, but that has been taken care of. There achillies heal could possibly be outside shooting though.

Garrard could slip in there at some point.
Garrard could be a welcome suprise this year. Coach Sizemore did a great job of bringing some life back into the program and I believe Coach Cooper will continue. I don't see them winning any games when it comes to the post season, but they could crack the top 10.

Somerset is another team that could suprise some teams this year. They are a year away from being competitive with the upper tier teams, but they have some very talented freshmen and sophmores that should compete for the 12th region title in 2 years.

SHS Future, just out of curiosity, in your opinion how good would Somerset be this year if they still had Gover and Townsend? Would they be the best team in Somerset/Pulakski County?

Lets just say if all of the kids that transferred from Somerset were still there, they would be the all out favorite in the region and one of the better teams in the state IMO. 10 players have transferred from Somerset over the past few years that would have been contributing to this years Somerset team and beyond. 5 players went to Pulaski Co.(3 current starters, 4 juniors and a senior), 3 went to SW (1 sophmore and 2 freshmen), and 2 went to Rowan Co. (I'm thinking both will be starters, 1 senior and 1 sophmore). The 3 from SW transferred back to SHS this year (that's one reason why I say SHS could surprise some teams this year). All 10 of these kids played AAU together and were very successful (state champions in multiple years as a group).

So to answer your question , yes, I believe Somerset would have been the best team in Somerset plus being one of the favorites in the region for 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

But, we can only wonder......what if?

Cool. Thanks SHS. I knew of a couple but had no idea that the total number was 10(now back to 7 but still). That is a lot of kids. Sounds like high school boys basketball in Pulaski County could have its own thread.

I just took another good look at the team rankings and even after region12hoops post I didn't realize that West Jessamine is at 5. Does anyone know what the coaches thought process was? I have a hard time seeing West that high. I have been wrong before but we smashed them last year and I thought they lose quite a bit from last year's team, Donaldson excluded. Does anyone know anything about West Jessamine?

I'm really feeling good about this year.........Boyle at Rupp!!!!

What has changed from last year for Boyle to do this? I watched them several times last year and didn't see much. I hope your right but fill me in on what has changed?

We were a junior dominated team last year. We bring back 4 starters and will be deeper this year as well. Our 3 key players actually put in work this summer outside of school allowed activities to improve their games as well.

What games did you see them play so I can have a better idea of what you saw and I can fill you in even more. You saw a team last year that lost their best player before their first scrimmage to a torn ACL and that changed a lot on last year's team. We beat teams we should have beaten and we competed well with teams that were equal to us or better than us. We also gave Wayne County all they wanted on their home floor on Senior Night. We weren't bad last year but we weren't great either. Only Christian County, Covington Catholic, Trinity and Dunbar(3rd game in one day) blew us out the gym. We were in every game and consistency was hard to find as well but we competed with every team in the 12th region. We'll be much improved this year AND I'll take Coach Adams over any coach in the 12th region.

I think I would put Wayne and Mercer ahead of McCreary Central.

I am very interested in seeing how Mercer is this season. They are very confident in Titan land.

Thanks.

Edwards maybe the best player in region by years end. Les didnt do his homework with the coaches cause the coaches know who Edwards is.

Still waiting for your response when the players' rankings were based on a coaches poll.
