Cats' Pause 12 Region Preview

Featured Replies

I think the team rankings are very accurate but the player rankings need to be ammended to include Justin Edwards from Southwestern. He is THE best player on Southwestern's team and definately a top 10 in the region.

The top 2 teams could be 1A and 1B. Pulaski has a solid junior class and they could start 5 juniors this year. Southwestern returns all 5 starters from last years regional runner up team and added a state champion coach in Steve Wright. This should be a fun year to watch 12th region basketball.

I agree. I can hardly wait.

Edwards maybe the best player in region by years end. Les didnt do his homework with the coaches cause the coaches know who Edwards is.

I agree. Edwards is a very nice player. Very nice.

I have read that Canadian transfer David Kapinga has been ruled eligible by the KHSAA. He is a very good, super quick point guard that will definitely improve Southwestern's chances come March. SW's biggest weakness was at the point guard position. With this ruling, SW should be #1 in all the preseason rankings.

I'm really feeling good about this year.........Boyle at Rupp!!!!

I like the way you think.

Actually,

I did my homework. I put in hours and hours with this. Got as many cell numbers as I could with the help of many and for the ones I couldn't reach by phone, I emailed them. Most of the coaches responded or replied back. Take a look at the other 15 regional previews and look to see how many had coaches quotes/thoughts included. I also took a coaches poll for top 10 teams/players. Edwards did not have enough votes to be included in the top 10. So yes, I did my homework.

I agree. If he's eligible, then it should move PSW to No. 1. As of presstime for when my story was due, didn't know if he would be eligible.

Good job, Les. I can roll with this.

I think the 12th region will be a great Region tourney this year. Pulaski County and Southwestern are definitely the two favorites. I think Pulaski is a hair better than Southwestern as noted. I think East Jessamine and in their right spots as well.

My own personal opinion....one of the top 4 teams will represent the 12th region in Rupp. I think those top 4 teams are all a hair better than the rest of the 12th Region. However.....as Southwestern proved last year...a team can get hot in February and ride that into March. That being said...I still think one of the top 4 teams will win the 12th. I can't wait.

Thanks man. I appreciate it.

Who does west Jess have coming back that puts them that high. Looking at last years roster they lost 8 seniors including at least their top two scorers from a team that was just 11-18

I know Sean Donaldson will be back but other than that I have no idea.

Also don't see Wayne being that high. They lost four starters off a team that seemed reluctant to even play their sixth man and the starter they return is a solid role player but will need a lot of help to replace what they lost

Coaches must see something you don't. Plus 9th isn't too high compared to what some other teams return that are ranked below them. And Rodney Woods is their coach, I'm sure that plays a factor, too.

Nine just seems high but with just Monticello, Casey, Burgin, Garrard, Somerset, Rockcastle and KSD below them maybe that's about right

Rule #13

Garrard could slip in there at some point.
