October 1, 201114 yr I just watched this and I thought it was very good. This program showed what we knew all along about Cubs fans, they are idiots. Their beloved losers blew it, end of story. What this Bartman guy did is what anyone would have done and reach for the ball, everyone round him was doing the same thing and he was the one that touched the ball. What Bartman went through was disgusting and criminal. Death threats, throwing beer and several other objects at this man not to mention the crowd/lynch mob outside the stadium....reallly Cubs fans . Then in a large number of the Flubs faithfull in Chicago further showed what they and their city is made of......Losers. I am a Wrigley Field fan, not a Cubs fan. That old stadium deserves better fans. Chicago and Philadelphia have the worst fans in all sports. And that statement shows just how much common sense you have. A few fans actions make all idiots? Yea that makes sense People who make blanket generalizations about an entire franchise's fan base due to a few morons actions are the real "idiots."

I have been to Wrigley many times and love the place. That said, the Bartman night was disgraceful. The crowd of fans out on Waveland Ave behind the left field bleachers chanting cursewords toward Bartman numbered in the hundreds, perhaps thousands. Thousands more were chanting against Bartman inside Wrigley. This was not an isolated bad apple in a Mayberry RFD crowd.
October 2, 201114 yr I haven't seen the film yet, and I might sometime. But the Cubs' collapse had nothing to do with Bartman, Alou's response or that of the fans. It was about a team that wasn't that great to begin with (an 88-74 record) that blew its chance to go to the World Series on its own merits. Alou was never going to catch the ball to begin with ... it isn't like he was a Gold Glover out there simply reaching into the stands to go after the ball. He was having to leap into the stands that were above him. Alex Gonzalez blew the potential double-play ball, but he wasn't the only culprit. Kyle Farnsworth retired only one of the four hitters he faced. The next night, Kerry Wood gave up seven runs in less than six innings. Simply put, the Bartman thing was a media and fan creation, just like the goat stuff and all the other nonsense. I feel badly for the guy for being victimized by it.

But for anyone to try and say that definitively Alou wouldn't have caught the ball and that his reaction had nothing to do with the collapse in that game is out of line. I've been a Cubs fan for a long time, but your opinion is no more provable than mine. I don't think Alou would've caught the ball, and certainly don't think his reaction and the aftermath had anything to do with Gonzalez's error and the rest.

October 2, 201114 yr Seriously man. Take off the blinders. This was WAY more than a "few fans" actions. No blinders, but the fans acting inappropriately at the game represents less than 1% of all Cub fans, so to say all cub fans are idiots is just comical.

You're pulling those percentages out of the air, and I simply made a factual statement that the fans that night whether it be the made up percentages you gave or every single fan in Wrigleyville account for less than 1% of all Cubs fans. I'm not sure where you feel you're the end all, know all to all things Cubs, but at the end of the day you're simply exaggerating by saying all Cub fans feel a certain way about what happened. Bottom line you're guessing and wrong.
