Mayfield has to be licking their chops...

I wouldn't think so just yet. Cov Cath had two advantages at the offensive line and more depth. I agree with what others have said about seeing how Saturday's game goes against Highlands.

Beechwood was fine in the first half. The problem is they play way to many kids both ways and they were worn out in the second half. They were a step slow and weren't wrapping up at all..

As I said to others on here, I am not buying that fatigue was a factor at all. Beechwood does a lot of rotation of players. There are only 2-3 guys playing both ways all the time. The line players are rotated in and out a lot. If there are any linemen that play more than 75% snaps, I would be surprised. Yes they play on both sides of the ball but not all the time. They get rested and they are in great condition.

To try and put this misperception to rest once and for all, look at how the second half of that game went. CCH's first drive of the second half was three plays. Obviously, fatigue has nothing to do with that. CCH's second drive took less than 3 minutes. So you are telling me fatigue was an issue when the defense just had a 15 minute break and had been on the field for 4 minutes? CCH's third TD came after Beechwood had moved the ball on a decent drive so plenty of rest for the defense there. The fact is CCH was too big and strong. Beechwood knew they were going to run it and still couldn't get the stops they needed. If you want to say they were tired as the game got deep into the 4th quarter when CCH scored that last TD, I might buy that a little but the game was pretty much over before that due to the turnovers and the fact that Beechwood couldn't get stops on defense. But then Beechwood's D did get a stop and force a punt in the 4th quarter, so they weren't too tired that time were they? No, sorry everyone. Fatigue is just easy excuse making for those who don't want to believe CCH was just too big and Gray too good, or misperception of people who didn't watch the game close enough.

Vocke doesn't come off the field.. Nussbaum, Erdman, Cruse hardly come off the field either. I know there were more also I just don't know their names.. Fatigue was a huge factor in my opinion. I was there and watched it happen right in front of my face.. Those kids were spent..Beechwood was a step slow and didn't tackle in the second half. That tells me that they were tired...End of story!! You can try and spin it any way you want but I saw with my own eyes..

after seeing (or when they see the film of) Beechwood's anemic run defense. After all, Mayfield runs the football like no team their size runs the football.

Agree? Disagree?

I agree, Cov Cath and Mayfield share alot of common traits from what I can tell. Twice this year Mayfield has gone old school for portions of the second half. Having a back with the power of Jackson makes the running game hard to stop and wears down a defense, espically a 1A defense that has guys going both ways but we prefer to mix it up at times. Being able to do both is a great luxery. I just dont know how equal to CC we are so its encouraging but hard to judge. I certainly feel Mf is ahead of where I expected them to be at this point and Bw has not been as good as I expected, granted they are clearly very, very good. I have watched a couple of their games and I dont think Bw is real comfortable when they decide to pass. So I am of the opinion that this game is a toss up at this point where before the season I felt that Bw was a clear favorite.

If you say Vocke doesn't come off the field, you obviously aren't watching close enough. No spin. Just facts. Fatigue had nothing to do with CCH's two TD lead early in the 4th quarter. Go ahead and ignore my post above yours and believe what you want.
