September 16, 201115 yr What Wu Tang did as a group from 1992-1998 is unprecedented and will never be duplicated. They completely dominated hip hop in this time frame and no one, not even Outkast, could find a way to duplicate the success Wu Tang has had as a group and then as individuals. And that is without taking tast into the equation. After Outkast's first album they were hit and miss with me. Some stuff I liked, some stuff I just couldn't get into. They aren't for everyone...much like Wu Tang. Big Boi and Andre are tremendous rappers with a skill set not seen from any Southern rappers. They have been extremely successful and I enjoy them as a group and respect their place in hip hop and how they got there. As great as they are, they will never be better than Wu Tang in my eyes(I wear contacts:D) and a lot of that is probably because when Wu Tang made individual albums they were still fire while Outkast has proven time and again that they need each other to make a hot album. Individually they suck...together they are top 2 group of all time. Wu Tang is fire together and individually. Plus I said arguably.

September 16, 201115 yr Liquid Swords is one hell of an album. No way can I leave that album out of my top ten. Could be my #2 honestly when it comes to putting in an album and listening to it from front to back. Not one weak song on the album.
September 16, 201115 yr Wu Tang is at best 3rd. 1. OutKast 2. The Roots 3. Everyone else Agree to disagree.....The Roots aren't in my top 5 maybe not even my top 10. They are a great group but I only listened to one of their albums exclusively. Great group though. The album with Clones and Never Do is a top ten worthy album though. I used to rock that album from front to back hard.

I really liked Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty I liked a few cuts off of there...they just seem to always be missing something when he and Andre aren't trading verses. Well, I guess they are....
September 16, 201115 yr That hurts me man...:lol: Sorry, dawg. I like them. Never have thought out my top ten groups. I just know my top three are Wu Tang, Outkast, N.W.A. Alkaholiks would be in my top 5 also. A Tribe Called Quest.....there's 5 already. They'd likely make my top ten.

Agreed. 36 Chambers is one of the best albums ever and the fact that the members have so many unreal solo efforts puts them over anyone else. Ghostface's stuff is my favorite, especially Fishscale. If his 5-year-long project with MF Doom ever actually gets released, I might burst a blood vessel..

Never. I started to make a Ghostface playlist on my iPod and realized it was useless when I realized I had whole albums on the playlist. Tony Starks...never disappoints.

The Roots - How I Got Over John Legend & The Roots - Wake Up Granted, like 11 of the 12 tracks on Wake Up are cover songs, but that album is IMMENSELY good...although it may better into the soul/funk genre than hip-hop.
September 16, 201115 yr NWA is the greatest rap group of all time.... Then Bone Thugs, then Wu Tang, then Outkast or whoever else you want to include. IMO I prefer G Unit over The Roots and quite possibly all other groups. The G-Unit album "Beg For Mercy" is great and quite possibly one of the best of all time, I just forgot to include it.

There are a few exceptions from the post-golden age, as noted above, but some of those are ones I have embraced since "rediscovering my roots" in recent years and going back and exploring records I missed.
