It hasn't gotten too bad yet, but I think we can all see where the QB discussion is headed. Not to get on a moral high-horse, but I'd like to remind all of us Bluebird fans that the young frosh kids read this message board, and that it would be nice for all of us to give them some space for at least the first few games.

Go Baby Birds!

Thanks for the updates!

What are you talking about? The QB is Hoge and thats who it should be. Are you saying that he should not be in there? If he isn't the best kid for the spot who is? That's like a parent telling me this week that the only reason my kid is playing QB is because i am his coach. Not that he is the most athletic kid on the team and throws it 35yrds that kids catch. come on this football not baseball. I know football flows thick in your blood line but come on Bau is the best kid for the spot.

ABC2 - Not sure if it's you or me , but that is completely the opposite of what I meant. What I was trying to say is let's all leave the kid (and his teammates as well) alone & let him play. They all read this board & IMO they don't need to see either other or their coaches put under the microscope before they even feel like a part of the program.

The answer to the back-up QB question is very simple -- it is Rocco Pangallo - starts at middle linebacker - he was on the sideline with a tender ankle. He didn't play at all in the second half.

At the point of the game where the back-up QB would have been inserted, they were just handing it off.

Nice bounce back by the Baby Birds! Shows good character to come back after a tough loss. Congratulations!

The boys played well and they looked like future champs to me! I agree that this board should not be used to bash 14 year old kids and I don't think any of the remarks above had the intent to do so. That said, I'm sure there is a backup plan in place at the QB position in case of injury or illness (knock wood). There are several great athletes in this bunch and 2 or 3 of them have played a lot of QB in the FTJFL.

I agree with the alphabet man on this one. Intent of question was not to bash any 14 year old, but rather to ask an honest question of whether or not there was a backup QB so that Hoge did not get hurt in the late moments of a blowout game. Some of the bluebird faithful need to take a chill pill and not think that everytime a question is asked it is in some manner trying to stir the pot. I am very familiar with the kids on this team and am in no way bashing any of them as you call it

Beau Hoge was outstanding tonite throwing the ball. On the money with both short and long balls. 2 seconds, 2 seconds is all the extra time he needed to be effective and see the field and make some very nice decisions. Beau struggled at times in the Trinity game but I could name a few Varsity QBs in NKY that would have struggled against the Rocks. He simply didnt have the extra or normal time to throw the football a week ago.

Daniel Kramer (sp) had a solid game defensively along with many others. I believe the Birds picked off SK 3 times and recovered 2 fumbles.

Offensively, the Birds relied on a nice mix of the run and pass incorporating lots of kids. If Beyhemer doesnt take his foot off the pedal then this one could have gotten really ugly. Highlands was a much faster and disciplined team tonite then SK.

Hope the two SK kids are ok. The concussion came from a big time hit by one of HHS LB. That kid wreck havoc all nite on SK offense.

Kudos to HHS coaches for backing off them Neers.

That is good to hear about Beau. It sounds like the Trinity game was a struggle and after getting more reports on that game, Trinity must have been huge. Its hard to throw the ball when you are scrambling or on your back so kudos to the Bird offensive line for giving him the time he needed.

Daniel Kremer is going to be an excellent football player for the Birds. The kid has a tremendous work ethic and tremendous dedication, like most if not all of the kids that wear the H on their helmet. His momma is definitely very proud and his Uncle Brian has done a ton of work with the athletes at Highlands as far as their physical fitness.
