Whats the magic number for a "close the book " thread? Does Mayfield have to get "style" points ? Is a mark of a good team team to win even when you don't play your best ? If Mayfield had won by just 1 point should there have been concern in Cardinal land ? Fleeting thoughts.

Am I happy with preformance? No way, and it is not good enough to get that shinny plack at the end of the season. Alot of last night was self inflicted, the 2 qb thing to me was as big in stopping drives as were the turnovers. Guhy is young and just had his first start going 9 of 13 and never got to throw a ball the last quarter and a half. He is going to make mistakes we didnt see last year and until he gets more time under his belt we are going to be a work in progress on offense. Will it be fixed by the playoffs? No idea but I bet it will be alot better by Beechwood week. I do believe that our team speed and defense are good enough that we will advance at least that far and if we get the offensive work in progress to the much improved area we will have a great chance at being a repeat state champ. I will go ahead and go on record as saying that there is not a 1A team out there that will approach our speed, we are the fastest team in 1A. Of the teams on our schedule only PT will be faster. I like our chances against all others on the schedule but we dont appear to match up well at all with PT

PT is just like Mayfield, imo. They are similar in size, speed, # of playmakers, experience, etc. I don't see one being far superior than the other. It'll strickly come down to execution. The team that does a better job executing will most likely win. In addition, the coaching staff that does the best job at making adjustments during the game will play a big factor. I like this Mayfield staff's ability to do that and give them a slight advantage, but, only a slight one.

So we won't beat our opposition by a total of a combined 500 + points this year. I'm sure there are plenty of teams that have won state championships by doing a lot less, and some have likely gone 15 and O. Confident we will be one of the top teams, regardless of class, when it comes to points allowed (again). While only a 2 td victory, never felt the Cards were in trouble with Jackson leading the defense
