UK fball fan
Final. The Cards offense turned it over a few too many times, but, there defense stepped up big against a pretty solid Greenwood offense. Jonathan Jackson carried the ball 21 times for over 230 yrds and a couple of scores.
snakesnot_2000
Mayfield looked a little sloppy in the throwing game. The good news is we have J Jackson and he is a load. We will to get better in the passing game. Greenwood is a solid team and the QB has a cannon. Our big test till playoff time will be in two weeks against PT. Eric Northman
I was there and I am not sure that Mayfield's defense gets enough credit. That unit is really strong.. I would hate to be a 1a team and have to face that bunch.

I would hate to be a 1a team and have to face that bunch. There defense will be there strong suit this year. There LBs are scary good. They have solid DBs and a couple of really good DEs. Everyone, coming into the season, was worried about the DL and OL, but, I think the Wynn kid is a monster on the interior and they're playing more of a 3 man front with 4 LBs and 4 DBs, so, they're getting there better athletes in the game. Good coaching with that adjustment.

PurpleHaze
Yep, this BGHS Purples fanatic and his wife were at the game! Greenwood is a team with excellent size and some decent skill players. They play spirited football and can take advantage of other teams' mistakes to stay in the game. I liked Mayfield's effort tonight...they didn't get all wrapped up in it if they made a mistake and kept plugging away. The Gators played hard, but it wasn't enough and shot themselves in the foot too many times. I've always wanted to see the Cards play, and I didn't come away disappointed! Mrs PH wanted me to tell you all that she liked the crowd and the cheerleaders too. The cheerleaders aren't an obvious dance team, and the crowd is full of spirit for their team. I hope I have plenty to brag about tomorrow night after the AC-S game...stay tuned!
Toothpick
PH Wished you would have gave me a call. Cards defense is ahead of schedule and the offense is behind schedule of where I expected them to be. First off the 2 qb system experiment needs to be done. Guhy is the only one who needs to be taking snaps. The Georgia kid is to good of an athlete not to be used somewhere but he has been unproductive at qb in the practices I've watched, largely so in the Milan scrimmage and completely a train wreck tonight. He fumbled a couple snaps, fumbled due to carrying the ball in an unprotected manner and made a couple poor decisions when he could have passed but opted to run and ran no where. We must use him somewhere and I hope they find him a spot. The use of him at qb tonight in my opinion likely cost us points as our offense didnt produce at all when he was the qb. Jake Guhy also made some poor decisions and was picked off twice but he also made some great ones. I think he may turn out to be betterthan his brother someday but not today. Greenwood's size suprised me, very big. Jackson was an animal tonight and Greenwood had no answer for him, he was punishing tacklers tonight. ZZZZZZ time! rookie57
Was very pleased with defense, I agree with toothpick that guhy is th kid we should leave in at quarterback, he is gonna b a good one and the Hughes kid is just not up to par to run the offense. No one will have an answer for Jackson, but I feel that Mayfield should utilize the Mills kid more running the ball, he is very strong, hard nosed and has suprising speed, this would also give Jackson a little more rest. Mayfieldsportsfan
PurpleHaze.... It would have been an honor to meet you and your wife and I wish I would have known you would be there. Had a great time at the game. Got to sit next to Toothpick. Man does he know Mayfield football and football in general. Also Coach Jack Morris was right beside us and you should hear him talk about the game while it is going on. Priceless! The two QB stuff has to go. It takes away any rhythm that Jake has got going in the game. Defense is even better than I thought it was going to be. Jonathan Jackson is two steps faster this year than last and he is a beast when running the ball.
Mayfieldsportsfan
The Gators had 191 yards of total offense and MHS running back Jonathan Jackson had 228 yards rushing. Mayfield’s Guhy went 9 of 13 for 84 yards and two picks.
