Very impressive showing for Casey County, Good Job Rebels!!!

Last week Casey County won a scrimmage against a 5A team that went 15-1 last year. This team is pretty good better than what people thank.

 

I think they scrimmaged Pulaski who was 11-2 I think. Casey did not win but played hard. I could be wrong.

14-7 at halftime. Casey played hard the entire night. Fatigue and turnovers caught up with the Rebels in the second half, but a definite good showing for a team with a thin roster.

Obviously Bell and Corbin are the class of the district, but Casey might be able to give both a little challenge.

I sure do hope so.

Casey County had 26 players on the roster but only play 14 or 15. They have 3 or 4 players who can play for any team in the state. Alex Bowlin, James Burton and Will Hatter are real players. I was very impressed by Casey County's play. They were disciplined, fundamentally sound and hard hitting. Very fun team to watch. After the game, Coach Marple commented that they worked very hard in the preseason on conditioning and the kids who couldn't take it, quit. Apparently, this thinned out the roster from about 40 to 26. The ones who are left are players.

Sophomore quarterback Brenan Kuntz went 10-of-18 for 141 yards and two touchdowns to wide receiver Jared Swanson, who finished with 114 receiving yards and seven catches. The Simon Kenton defense forced five turnovers. Simon Kenton junior running back Nate Powell finished with seven carries for 59 yards and a score. Kuntz and Pinkleton both ran for touchdowns also.
