August 29, 201115 yr I wish they would start Grandkowski. He can win and is competative as heck. Let Dalton come in during mop up duties to get his feet wet if he is really the future. Grandkowski usually gets hurt because he plays so hard kind of like Grady Sizemore lol.

However with Grandkowski, I don't see him bringing much to the table to help this team win more than they would with Dalton. So might as well go with Dalton, he is someone who seems to be smart and quick learner. So the best way for him to learn is to be out there on the field doing it. There is a reason why Grandkowski has not been able to stick with any teams, I think he has 5 career wins ever, and two of them came against the Bengals. Dalton is better off learning while playing this year, and besides they are going to try to help him out by running a lot.
August 29, 201115 yr As much as I am not a CP fan, I would love for him to walk back through the door and force Mikey Boy's hand I heard Lance McAlister ranting on and on last week about how he would like to see this. If CP walks through the door, it will be Mike Brown's dream come true and prove in his mind he was right all along. If CP walks through the door, CP had better be ready to put on a Bengals uniform and do his job to the best of his ability. Let there be no doubt the Bengals will put him on the field under center if he is healthy. CP coming back only hurts CP if he wants play somewhere other than Cincinnati.

Question about the CP situation....If he didn't report to training camp, were the Bengals in a position to fine him? If so, why didn't they do that to force his hand to either file the retirement paperwork or report to camp?

I'm just not a big fan of throwing guys to the wolves especially in a division with Pitt+Balt. Guys like Rodgers+Brady had a chance to ease thier way in. Most successful QB's not named Manning didn't get thrown straight into the fire. I do agree with you that Gruden will try to use Benson pounding the ball and both backs catching the ball which will take some pressure off.

Usually I am not either, and if we had a better veteran back then then maybe. However with Bruce I don't seem him making to much more of a difference when it comes to Wins and Losses. So might as well go with Dalton IMO. We actually are in a division who has seen two rookie QB's do really well in their rookie years in this division in Big Ben and Flacco. They surronded those guys with great defenses and a running game. The Bengals just two years ago was a top 5 defense, and IMO can at least be a top 10 defense this year. If the line can do their job and create holes to run the ball, then it should be able to make it the best situation possible for Dalton to do well and grow.

If so, why didn't they do that to force his hand to either file the retirement paperwork or report to camp? Probably because they were still hoping he would change his mind. And they know if they did that, he would sign the papers and then he for sure would have been done. Not to mention if they did that, it would have counted against the cap, and they would have had to pay him. Which even though they could have fined him, the amount they would be paying him still would have been more than the total of the fines.

If he came today then yeah that could maybe happen. However Carson can wait until the day before the season starts and then show up, and they would have to pay him. Also would be impossible to play him for a few weeks then. Or he could even wait as long as week 6 I believe before he shows up. Which if he waits to then, they still have to pay him and not a chance he probably plays for them then. So they would be paying a guy 11 million to hold a clip board, or they would have to trade him.
September 2, 201115 yr Filed to ESPN: Cincinnati signed CB Leon Hall to a four-year, $39 million extension that includes $14.1 million gtd. Deal runs through 2015. From Adam Schefter's twitter.
