This is a ridiculous statement. Go back to coaches Chalk and Norman then make the statement. 5 coaches in 7 years after Norman was the problem. It has suffered due to poor administration but those individuals are gone. They have always had kids that could compete just not coaches willing to stay and build. Believe me they have the talent in the system if they have a coach willing to work with it.

They need to go get Nick Barton. Frankfort High Grad. Lives in the community. Won't see it as a stepping stone to something else. Never gave up on the program. Ran a great summer program one year, but was passed over when hiring time came. He would do all of the right things. Question is whether or not he wants it after all that water that ran under the bride.

Barton would be the perfect fit for the Panthers, but they did him wrong the last time the job was open. There isnt anyone else around that would take as much pride in the Frankfort program as Barton.

I could see Danville's (former) head coach Matthew Yates putting in for this job. I hear his wife works in Frankfort or something like that. Word he is headed to Frankfort.

Yates would be great too. I would hope that he would want to stick around for a while. They really need some consistency.

I believe Yates was an assistant (possibly with Byers?). Danville had a nice team last year and he would be a great choice for Frankfort. Definitely someone used to the Single A atmosphere and with a school where football is king, but good athletes around to make a successful basketball program. In fact, Frankfort's best basketball player, Aaron Jackson, is (from my understanding) a top flight football prospect.

The difficult thing in Frankfort/Franklin County is that you have three High Schools in a County with less population than for example neighboring Scott County (one high school). It spreads the talent making it very difficult to compete in the 11th. When there were only two High Schools in Frankfort/Franklin County back in 1980 (year before the county split and added Western Hills) both Frankfort and Franklin County had top rated football and basketball programs. In !980 Franfort and Franklin County were rated in the top 5 in the state in basketball almost the entire year, with Franklin County winning the 11th region.

 

I wish the best for Frankfort basketball, but really would like to see only two High schools in Frankfort/Franklin County.

That is Fantastic!!!!! I know him to be a very good coach and person. He also knows Frankfort's strength's and weakness. If true a great hire.

This article jumped the gun. There is intrest between the two. I know Yates will be interviewing.
