Could be, then again wouldn't surprise me if Stan Steidel gets the gig.

 

I'd say Jason Booher is also a candidate. Pretty sure one of the reasons he came to Holmes was because of the opportunity to someday get this position.

Mr. Madrick is a phenomenal person! I am sure will be deeply missed in the Covington Schools.

Sad news for the bulldogs, like someone posted earlier "Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog." I graduated from Holmes and this is a huge blow. He was an outstanding coach and AD, but he was an even better person. I hope Holmes can recover and find the right candidate to fill these enormous shoes. Much respect to Coach Madrick, and I wish him a quick recovery.

Two canidates for this job would be Ken Dearborn ( principal at Holmes Jr. High asst fb coach) and Dave Hartman ( former baseball coach, asst principal or dean in the high school) It will not be Booher or any of the other current head coaches in a full time manor. Stan Steidel is already supervisor of officals in NKY so conflict of interest there. My guess is some administrator will assume it in a part time role, and that it will be a part time gig to stay with whoever taking it having other responsibilities than just AD. Coach Madrick was more than the AD, it was well known that he was the unofficial spokesmen for the school district. Have a little cousin who is in the fourth grade in the school district, and two years ago the highlight of her school year was the day that Coach Madrick gave a little speech to all the kids at the school and then introduced Ricardo Johnson who talked to the kids about making right choices, staying in school, getting involved in activities, etc... it was maybe two weeks after they had won the state title. People dont realize that outside of AD role Madrick was famous for that... Often enlisting Ricardo, Brandent Englemon, Erica Hallman, etc... Bottom line is he will be missed and was a huge asset for the school district and community.

Ron Madrick was the heart and soul of Holmes athletics....big shoes to fill. BEST AD in the STATE!!!! He will be missed. Best replacement would be Ken Dearborn....hope Holmes makes the best decision for the kids....

A great guy. Mr. Madrick will be missed not just by the Bulldogs but by all of northern Kentucky. As far as a replacement...perhaps Coach Listerman??

This isn't your father's Holmes or Covington for that matter. Why replace him with a guy who was lured out of retirement to be an assistant basketball coach? At some point, it's OK to hire fresh young faces.

I knew Coach Madrick when he was at DeSales in Louisville. He was a complete class act as a Coach who hardly ever complained about a call, and if he did, you took notice. His players reflected his personality. I am sure he was quite an asset for Holmes. Hopefully any health issues aren't too serious.
