Coach Hester and Coach Blevins did an excellent job! This team was successful due to a talented group of boys that played TOGETHER as a team. They had great chemistry and they played hard.

Congrats to the Crons team. There are a lot of skilled ballers on that squad who I have watched over the past 5-6 yrs.

 

Justin Saunders has tremendous upside and could definitely develop into a 10th Region POY candidate by the time he graduates.

Did KYElite lose all of their games in Orlando? I think I followed the brackets correctly. Looked like all single digit losses unless I read wrong. If so, that's surprising.

You followed the bracket correctly. KY Elite had a tough week in more ways than one, but mostly the scoreboard. They were in every game and actually led in the 4th quarter or had a possession to take the lead in every game, but were never able to close the deal.

 

The month of July started badly as Dalton Cornett (Perry Central) broke his foot in a warmup tourney. Then, in the first quarter of th first game in Orlando, Mason Monroe (Pendleton County) badly sprained his ankle and never played another minute. That left KY Elite with 7 kids. On top of that, their pool proved to be very tough, as one team KY Elite lost to in OT finished 7th overall and another they lost to by 4 in pool finished 10th out of 140 teams. By they way, no excuses, just the facts.

 

In the end, the week was very frustrating to be that close every game against good competition but not be able to close the deal in any game.

 

Other members of the team included Quin Richardson and Tyler Page (Scott County), Blake Sanders (South Laurel), Nate McGovney (Campbell County) Nick Trisko (Lafayette), Stephen Chambers (Mason County) and Dez Marshall (Collins). Each had their moments throughout the week, but obviously the moments were not enough. :ohbrother:

 

Another note: Some KY teams did have success in the D-1 bracket. The Ville finished 9th overall and Louisville Finest won the Classic bracket.

Thanks for the update. I knew that team has had a history of doing well at nationals. Was surprised they didn't finish well. It's tough at that level when you don't have all your guns.

The BA Hoyas trailed Next Level Performance from Chicago 9-0 early in the game but rallied for a 62-45 victory in the championship game of the Classic Bracket.

 

The Hoyas lost all three pool games by close decisions and then won six straight games in the classic bracket to bring home the hardware.
