Just a simple question here but if you are going to be so quick to pull Cueto why not hit for him in the top with a man at second and 1 out?

Nice play by Bray but let's get this next guy.

If Cueto gets the first hitter out, he is still pitching. Since he didn't, when the Pirates go to the pinch hitter for the pitcher you bring in the reliever and make Pitt. waste a player.

Sometimes they don't waste a player, ie...the Reds last night brought Bruce in and left him in when a reliever was brought in.

True, but as I said, if Cueto gets the lead off man out, he gets to pitch to batter #2. If he gets #2 out, he gets to pitch to #3. If he gets #3, he is still pitching. If he doesn't get the outs, then you make the move to the bulpen.

I think it's because he's reluctant to use Bray for full innings for some reason. I think if he's going to use 3 pitchers in an inning he wants one to be a starter that wasn't going much longer anyway. I'm guessing here because I'm not sure what your buddy Dusty is thinking a lot of times. He did the same exact thing with Bailey the other day.

Agreed

Do you think he would have been or don't you think that he was only pitching to the righty with Bray warmed up and a lefty on deck He was close to 100 pitches on a very hot day. I think that Bray was coming in either way to pitch to the lefty but only Dusty knows.

The key at bat in the game is here. Two outs, runners on 1st and 2nd and the hot hitting Walker at the plate.

I really hate this "be nice to Dusty week". It makes it very hard on me. Nice job Logan.

OK, I am trying to think what you would rip Dusty on from that set of moves, but I know you have something, maybe two or three things ...

I would just like to know what he was thinking with Cueto. If he had a real short leash it's one thing but if he was planning to go to Bray regardless of what happened with the leadoff guy why not pinch hit and try to get another insurance run? Just wondering.

I don't think he was necessarily going to Bray automatically on batter 2. Once Cueto allowed the leadoff hitter to get on, he went to Bray. As I said, if Cueto goes 1-2-3 that inning, I think he is still on the mound.

I hope the Red's spend some time in the cage tomorrow before the weekend series. This offense is just so stagnant that I would make Jacoby earn his keep with some of these guys and see if there is something, anything, that can help get them kick started. I know back in the day when my sons struggled I just spent a lot of time soft tossing to them to get their hand-to-eye straightened out.

You may be right. Oh I hate this week, c'mon Monday.
