Not taking anything away from Towles at all, but I could have won a title with that team and thrown more TD's than INT's (probably 5 TD's and 4 INT's for me ). Towles is a great QB but the Birds were loaded and they were able to pick their spots in how they used Towles. That is a rare situation. Didn't Nick West start as a sophomore at Conner? What were his stats?

Conner was awful during West's soph season. I do believe their passing game will be much more efficient in NKY 5A vs. NKY 6A. I am not sure how deep they would go in the playoffs but i think he will put up large numbers. They would probably finish fourth if they were still in 6A.

 

NKY QB's: 1.Towles 2.Pike 3.Barker- not sure about anyone else being remotely close as far as numbers go.

I would list Towles, Pike and Bir as my top 3 QB's in the area. Highchew as #4. Without any varsity experience, at this time, I would not add anyone else to the list.

IMO a player has to be very, very special to get that high of recognition as a sophomore QB. My guess is Barker will throw more INT's than TD passes this year. That is just the way it is with a sophomore QB regardless of how good they are.

 

I'll have to disagree with you on this one. While he is just a sophomore, Barker has experienced playmakers on the edge that can play. With the move to 5-A, and some consistent blocking up-front, I'd expect Barker to put up some numbers both passing and running. Not sure Conner will win many though due to a lack of skill and experience on the defensive side of the ball.

You can't compare the scenarios. Patrick was surrounded by TONS of talent. The kid from Conner will have a lot more responsibility on his shoulders. He won't be playing with the lead the whole time.

Have you seen Hitchew? If you are judging him off the Ryle game last year, then you need to get out and see him again. I'd say that he's the most underrated playmaker in NKY. Additionally, Bir improved vastly throughout the course of the year. I don't see how a kid who has never played a down gets selected over a State Champ and a kid who took Highlands to the wire.

I am going to have to go with Cuban Missile on this post. If you look at the Top WR Thread, you will notice Conner has over 1,200 yards recieving returning. I'm sure that experience will help Barker. This being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see some growing pains. But with a weaker 5A this year and 12 games/scrimmages I would like to see him be ready for the playoffs with higher seed.

Time will certainly tell with the QBs mentioned so far. Most of the "top 6" will play or at least scrimmage each other which should make for some exciting games this fall for football fans.
