I really really really really feel bad for Chris Burke. I am so excited Mercer won and has a chance to play for the state title....and that's baseball.....but I feel really bad for that kid and I am not an emotional fan of sports. I can't imagine his pain.

Congrats to PRP on a great season and congrats to mercer on your chance to bring home your first baseball title, Great Crazy Game and nothing but class from both sides, can't ask for much more. Should be a great championship game tomorrow, anybody have a time? or know if it will possibly be delayed due to the lateness off this games end? just curious

Yeah...I get a lump in my throat just thinking about what it would be like if that were my kid. As happy as I am for Mercer I can't help but feel really bad for that kid. Man........

One of the craziest games I've ever seen. Speechless.

This was an outstanding baseball game. It was 2-1 heading into the final inning.

My heart breaks for the PRP outfielder but there were two errors prior to that play that really led to the damage.

My heart goes out to this young man and his family. I was sitting with my son in the stands thinking the very same thing,what if it were him? We talked about this on the way home tonight...it's not a matter of if, but when...we all face points in our life where we step back and say what just happen? PRP, congratulations on a great season. Right now more than ever, this young man needs you to embrace him. That one play will always be remembered, but if you were at the game, you too can count many opportunities PRP didn't or couldn't take advantage of. Our prayers go out to he and his family.

Gotta confess, this was our finals. I actually picked Central Hardin to take the title. Something tells me Mercer wins the 2011 State Championship 6-3 over Central Hardin.

I agree to a certain point, but his attitude after the play was ridiculous. 1) He laid out there and then shunned a teammate who come out to console him and 2) He threw his glove which is so childish! It wasn't the gloves fault. Kids need to learn to respect the game and should be taught that. He will be more remembered for how foolish he acted after the play than the actual play itself. The one play did not cost PRP the game. Look back at it and you will see that it was a culmination of several plays that caused them to lose. Pray that this young man will learn to handle adversity better than he did in this situation.

I would not say he was childish. He certainly was not blaming the glove when he threw it. He was understandably distraught because he has probably caught hundreds of fly balls like that throughout his career. I don't think I would feel like talking very much either or very receptive to being consoled at that moment. Too much emotion. Put yourself in that same situation. If you responded similarly, I would not have accused you of being childish. Despite missing the catch, the kid is still an awesome player. One error does not define him as a player, nor do the previous errors define PRP as a team. He would be my rightfielder again. Let's give him and his team space and grace to deal with the pain. It is just a reality of the game that all of us experience if we are fortunate enough to play or coach it at this level.
