Colonels plate 5 on 5 hits.

Efficient.

Congrats to CC. HC had a very nice club with solid pitching. The importance of winning seeding games during the regular season is so obvious in the 35th and 33rd. Nice season HC.

You hate to see high quality teams that had great seasons go home like that in the first round. But that is life in the 35th district. Congrats to the Colonels on getting it done and congrats to Holy Cross on an excellent season.

Congrats to the young men of Cov Cath on the big win!

Also congratulations to the entire Holy Cross team as well for a great season.

Maile was impressive to get the save. I don't think Serverson had his best stuff, but he gutted it out and pitched a very courageous 6 innings. I am very impressed by Tiberi (Sp) and Callery from HC. They have a great core of players coming back next season.

And the 33rd.

Holy Cross and Ryle are obviously two of the top 8 teams in the region. Shame neither will be on the field at Champion Window next week.

The last two #1's in the Enquirer poll are both eliminated.

Shows how evenly matched the 9th is this year. 6 teams could win it: Beechwood, Boone, Conner, CovCath, Dixie or NewCath. Conner and the loser of Beechwood/Cov will likely have tougher roads to the championship. Good luck to all of the teams. Two first round games should be blowouts and the other 2 nail biters.

Big shout out to my boy Rob Broering. Dude can play but sometimes the game gets you and sometimes you get the game. Slim Shady will be missed at HC.

Congrats to all the Players, Coaches and Fans of the Holy Cross District HS Varsity Baseball team. It is indeed a shame that someone had to end their season so soon as both teams are two of the best in the ninth.

Congrats to the seniors of HC and good luck at the next level.

Going to bed soon but just have to give a nod to CovCath 1st Baseman junior Eric Schneider. You won't read much abut him in the paper tomorrow but his double in the 4th to lead off the inning was huge and I will say that the plays of the game were his by scooping up poor throws by his CovCath infielders to not only get the outs but in the 6th to keep a run from scoring, were indeed outstanding game saving plays.

Great job young man.
