What I've always said is that I don't think LeBron doesn't need as many titles as Kobe to be considered the better player, and I think if he gets close to Jordan the comparison could be fair depending on how LeBron's career turns out.

That is what I'm saying. LeBron does so much more on the floor than Kobe does. He's better at every phase of the game IMO other than shooting mid-range and finishing games. But he is quickly improving at both. And we forget at 18 Kobe had Shaq. That is an advantage neither LeBron nor Jordan. Now I'm not saying Shaq won by himself, but what I am saying is that not all title counts are created equally. If they were Bill Russell would be considered the best of all-time.

 

And no one compares to Jordan at this time as far as I'm concerned. I rank Kobe at #2 all-time, tied with Magic. But it is a distant #2. You put MJ in the situation Kobe came into and he gets his 6 titles before running Shaq out of town IMO.

Shaq ran himself out of town. Kobe had nothing to do with that other than being the guy the Lakers chose to continue build their franchise around. Shaq did it to himself. Kobe wishes he had the power to run Shaq out of town. He would have done it sooner than it happened. Shaq wanted out and demanded a contract he knew the Lakers wouldn't give him and then demanded a trade and got traded within 24 hours of his demand. That is all.

I think LeBron going to DWade puts him even further behind Kobe in the debate. Kobe couldn't help that he got placed with Shaq, much like Jordan and Pippen couldn't help it. DWade won pretty much on his own. LeBron CHOSE to team up with another superstar. Not the other way around.
