May 12, 201115 yr Flag burnings, no prayer in public places, kids suspended for wearing American flag shirts on Cinco DeMya day, etc. When are our rights violated fo rthose who disagree with POLITCAL CORRECTNESS. It seem with agree with a few, but make tons mad. If I am illegal then I am illegal, if I dont pay my taxes I go to jail, child Preds should not be out preying on our kids, cant personal profile, I am poor and pay taxes, oil comps are rich and pay no taxes. America has some issues, we need one guy who isnt afraid to stand up to everything that is wrong.
May 12, 201115 yr This message is filled with a lot of random things that could take this discussion in a million different directions, but for me... Kids were suspended for wearing American flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo? Did I miss that somewhere? Link?

Because I think you might have a problem with Muslims praying in school with your children.
May 12, 201115 yr I have no clue what this thread is asking...:idunno: I'm with you, holmes. I read that a couple of times and have no clue what the issue is or the point being made.
May 12, 201115 yr mountain ref, enough is enough. It was all fun and games but now you've gone and really ticked me off. You made me agree with a post ace made. Thanks a lot.

Name me one public place you can pray in, including school. How is some idiot burning a flag violate your rights? I need more info on the kids being suspended.

May 12, 201115 yr Students suspended.. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/05/06/california-students-sent-home-wearing-flags-cinco-mayo/ I remember that now. The school was wrong to do it.

I need more info on the kids being suspended. Depends. You can pray in certain public forums (parks, street corners, even public school classrooms if those classrooms are open for public meetings after school hours...) as long as the law doesn't control the conduct of the speech (i.e. need for park permits for organized activities...)
May 12, 201115 yr I remember that now. The school was wrong to do it. I don't think that the school was wrong if they show that the kids were doing it, not to show pride, but to cause trouble.
May 12, 201115 yr I don't think that the school was wrong if they show that the kids were doing it, not to show pride, but to cause trouble. It's an American flag on a tee shirt in America.

I never heard of this, but glad the link was posted. I have a big issues with them getting suspended (actually with receiving any punishment for this). Shouldn't matter what the reason for the student wearing the shirt, whether protesting Cinco de Mayo, or celebrating America. I feel like we could have a real discussion about that. Might give this thread some meaning.
May 12, 201115 yr Okay, I'll take up the arguement on the other side. No bandannas or flag t-shirts should have be worn! I also disagree with the girl at the end of that video that said they don't go running around with Mexican flags on the 4th of July chanting viva Mexico. No, because you are in the USA! Last 4th of July I was in Hamburg Germany, I didn't go running around town chanting USA! USA! USA! There were people I was working with, all non-Ameircan who even said Happy 4th of Julu to me, and I noticed a few 4th of July parties, But I wouldn't expect everyone in Hamburg to take down their flag just so us Americans wouldn't get upset on "our day". I have no problem with them having the Mexican dancers at the school in the clip, it's good to learn about other cultures, but it should not be done if you are going to turn around and tell others they have to hide, or they can't so something on that day that they can do on any other. But like every other person in this thread, I have no clue about what the first poster it talking about.
May 12, 201115 yr I don't think that the school was wrong if they show that the kids were doing it, not to show pride, but to cause trouble. I don't think they were, plus it shouldn't matter, is that shirt allowed in the school on any other day or not? If yes, then it should be allowed everyday. Plus, the one kids father is of Mexican decent. This is the USA! I don't see the people in Mexico City, or anywhere else in Mexico, taking down the Mexican flag so all the Americans visiting or living there don't get upset on "their day".
