Bishop Brossart 2011

That somewhat depends on how the scrimmage is conducted. If it's a controlled scrimmage (no special teams play) and Boone has gone with the two scrimmage option (no bye), perhaps Thompson intends to use the Brossart scrimmage to work more with the backups and jvs thus decreasing the chances of a physical beat down of Brossart. Let's wait and see what happens before the Brossart coach gets thrown under the bus for scrimmaging Boone.

That would make sense.

You nailed it VOR and others. If Beechwood had asked to move up, there is no doubt that the KHSAA would have denied the request. I'm extremely confident of such. If Mel stated to the contrary, he was mistaken.

If Brossart's enrollment has or does significantly decrease from the numbers used recently to reclassify, they can petition the KHSAA to move them in the future. When Brossart attended a BOC meeting before the reclassification was finalized, Brossart stated that they expected their numbers to drop. But the KHSAA cannot classify based on expectations; it has to be based on the actual numbers used or else the door is opened to all kinds of manipulations.

No guesswork here--They stated their case based on current numbers for '10 & '11 (appx. 175 boys), not someone's speculations or guesswork?? The two year old numbers used to reclassify happened to hit a bit of a spike in BB's numbers, which have since resettled to the more usual 350-375 total enrollment numbers. Not sure where the Mel thing started, but I'm confident he wasn't lobbying the Beechies to move up???? KSHAA denied the petition, and off to D-2 for the Mustangs.

Probably not the best development for a developing program such as Brossart's, especially given the presence of NCC in their district, and the fact they consistently vie for students with NCC at some of BB's main feeders. They'll survive and likely move back to D-1 where then belong in the next realignment, unless the KSHAA decides to move to 8 classes or the sort?? :D

As you stated, the 10' and 11' years weren't used by the KHSAA. From what I understand, there is some delay in getting the actual numbers through KDE and that this is why the older numbers are used. Don't ask me the particulars, but there can somehow be some difference between the number the school thinks is enrolled and the number KDE uses. For consistency purposes, the KHSAA uses the KDE numbers. Strap the pots on tight Mustangs and go get 'em.

Coach Reinhart did a nice job with non district schedule setting themselves up to be competitive. They open with Middletown Christian followed by Caverna coming north then Dayton then Pendleton - all games they SHOULD be competitive in. Then the district foes followed by Walton then Scott to finish up year. If Brossart is going to pull off a win or two in district play - As with most football teams - they need to stay healthy - They are young and athletic - just not very deep. They do have some upperclassmen at key skilled positions returning - as long as they can stay healthy they potentially could make the Lloyd and or Newport game interesting. Home games this year will be played at Scott
