LLoyd Invitational track meet

What was the outcome I was there Saturday for 2 hours who won? JD

I see Highlands and Beechwood boys tied at 45.10 in the 4x100. How did they determine that HHS got 1st and BW 2nd?

The son of our old friend Oldbird ran well.

From what I know and it isn't much they have a camera at the finish line to determine who wins.

Big meet at Cov Cath at 430 tomorrow.

Diocesan?

No camera at this meet. The official called it at the line ... and we didn't argue. The Wood came out on top in the 4x200 in a tight race ... so I was okay with the call.

On a related note ... the Area 5 meet is coming up this week (Friday at Dixie). Cov Cath will be tremendously difficult to beat (especially with the format). The girls side will be more of a toss up. I am pretty interested to see how we do running our first meet (we are partnering with Dixie on this one). Come on out ... it should be a good one.

What is different with this one that makes you feel this way? Just curious as I honestly do not know as Cov Cath did not participate in this last year.(At least I do not think they did)

A good group of football running backs at the top of the boys 100 meter dash with Travis Elliott winning.

Diocesan?

Yes

Just curious is it common for schools to only send their girls team and not their boys team?

I noticed that the Dixie girls participated but not the Dixie boys. I just found that odd.

Elliot posting an 11.20 in the 100 meters is pretty strong. As was the Bray kid from Lloyd jumping a 6'9" in the High jump.

This is one meet where having great depth helps a team. For instance--as of right now--CCH has 4 young men who qualify in the 100 meter dash. All 4 of those guys are in the meet, plus, all 4 can score (teams are not limited to 2 scoring athletes per event). Also, there is no four event limit for participants (that could help or hurt depending on how good someone is).

In the end ... this is more of a college type meet--where the best runners run regardless of any predetermined participation limits.

You can see the rankings at http://www.beechwoodtrack.com (top left hand corner--Area 5 rankings--or something to that effect).

It is very common. Many schools have different girls/boys coaches ... so they treat it like they are different teams (which they officially are). St. Henry is the same way, as is Highlands and a bunch of others.

Thanks. I can see the thinking then. I was not aware of the different rules used for this meet. That certainly helps Cov Cath as they do have a very deep team this year. I wonder why though the Area 5 meet is like this, yet the state meet is not? Seems strange to me at first thought. Hopefully the weather is nice on Friday as it should be a good meet.
