April 26, 201115 yr What is at the top of your list? Government spending waste? Oil dependence? Illegals? Drugs? The education system? The welfare system? Taxes? Other? and how would you propose to fix your top item?
April 26, 201115 yr Not in any particular order, just getting them out there: Oil Dependence Poverty Drugs Tax System Destruction of the planet Use of too many resources by too few people Welfare system - too much corporate welfare Is the education system really broken? Do "illegals" really cause a big problem
April 26, 201115 yr Spending - Goes hand in hand with dependency. Eliminate the useless government programs and we're off to a good start towards fixing this. Government dependency - Need to eliminate all government programs that aren't for defense and infrastructure. Taxes - Everyone should pay the same % of their income.
April 26, 201115 yr Author Ace - any suggestions on solving "Poverty"? I'd love to solve that one - but in a way where people become self-sufficient rather than dependent.
April 26, 201115 yr Energy independence fixes a lot of the issues related to $$. We make more. We keep more. We have more to use for the good of the country. Education is 1A. The rest are irrelevant in my mind until we fix 1 and 1A.
April 26, 201115 yr 1. Pointless spending. 2. Infringement on individual liberties. 3. End War on Drugs (really goes hand-in-hand with #1 and #2)
April 26, 201115 yr When I started to drive I paid $00.24. a gallon for gas. What happened? Schools firing teachers for students not doing well, so you hire super teachers? Cost of living??? I know many people who make under $10.00 an hour. Get sex topics out of main stream TV. I don't how many times I've had to turn the channel quickly due to the topic while my son was watching the show.
April 26, 201115 yr Until wasteful spending by the government is addressed all other issues are moot. Ace you and I agree. The tax system is obsolete and outdated. When such a small percentage of people pay an OVERWHELMING percentage of income taxes something is wrong, especially when a majority of people pay no income tax at all, and many get a bigger "refund" then what they actually pay in. If there has to be an income tax then everyone should pay the same percentage of their income and there should be no deductions. NO ONE SHOULD BE IMMUNE FROM INCOME TAX IF THERE IS GOING TO BE AN INCOME TAX.

The rest are irrelevant in my mind until we fix 1 and 1A. What about education would you want to fix? I agree we have major problems with the educational system, but it's also mostly related to entitlement issues.

I would contend that this line of thinking is actually one of the issues that needs fixin'!
April 26, 201115 yr What about education would you want to fix? I agree we have major problems with the educational system, but it's also mostly related to entitlement issues. What are the problems related to the educational system? Who on here had children go to a public school and get a poor education? My son is an 8th grader and a public "city" school. He already has an Algebra 1 credit, is currently taking Geometry, French 1, and Honors Freshman Integrated Science. He has also scored fairly high on his ACT. Now some of that is genetics (his mom is really smart - just has poor taste in men), but mostly he is a product of the public school system. I don't think it is the education system so much as it is cultural. I do believe that some funds don't get distributed to some inner city schools in some states, but because of KERA it doesn't happen as much in Kentucky.
April 26, 201115 yr I would contend that this line of thinking is actually one of the issues that needs fixin'! I concur. The US has extremely strict rules and regulations compared to most other places when it comes to that.
