Congratulations, I was on unemployment for 99 weeks too. I got a decent job about five months ago and have been in Graduate school. I hope to never be out of work that long again unless I reach retirement.

I enjoyed being laid off it was fun the only thing I worried about was when was the money going to run out. My buddy was laid off and went to 5 Nascar races and went to Florida 20 times.

I went to the unemployment office yesterday so I could have my last check ordered and the lady that worked their was telling me nobody will get a job as long they keep giving people unemployment.

1. Do you think knowing that you had 99 weeks of UI slowed down your job search?

2. How much less did you make in UI than you did in your regular job?

3. Did you ever feel guilty about accepting UI for so long?

Isn't the most you can draw from unemployment around $400 a week?

1.I looked for jobs the whole time but if I would have took some of the jobs I would have lost money.

2. I probably made more on unemployment because I did have to pay for gas to drive to work or lunch money.

3. Never felt guilty at all. My old work laid me off with 18 others but protested my unemployment a month later then I appealed and won. Plus I am 37 years old I been working full-time since I was 18 years old I pretty sure I paid my dues I need a break. A month before I got laid off I pulled my groin muscle so the time off really helped. Only thing I didn't like was going with out health insurance.

I am pretty sure it is more than that I think its in the 500 range.

One other thing I was lucky I have been divorced for 3 years and have full custody of my son but after I got divorced I moved back to my mom's house I have an apartment there that I don't have to pay rent etc. so I got lucky a person with a house and everything else would never make it.

Very true. I have been told by numerous job candidates, that since they were on unemployment, they really weren't interested in working unless they found the perfect job for them. I have had quite a few turn down job offers due to this.
