Rumor: Georgetown College Moving to D3

It happens quickly once that final decision is made.

actually it's not that quick. once they announce they enter a three year transition period. the first year, they get their ducks in row so to speak. That first year they would remain part of the NAIA. The second year, they would abide by NCAA rules and not be eligible for any playoffs. The third year, they are a full NCAA member but don't have any post season priviledges yet.

 

So if they announce this fall as expected. THey'll remain in the MSC and NAIA the following season, then would begin their DIII journey.

Georgetown's Athletic Director resigned today. I don't know if it was forced or on his own accord.

Moving to DIII will kill their basketball program and seriously injure their football program. This is not a good move for their athletic program.

How do you kill a basketball program that has won an average of 30 games per year? Gtown has 902 victories in the past 30 years.

There is only one thing that can be said about Georgetown going D3 that makes any sense. The Georgetown president is an idiot, moron etc.
