April 13, 201115 yr I think Chicago. I know that everyone thinks Peter Cetera and the "pop music" machine but they were innovative, daring and great musicians in their earlier Terry Kath days. Kath deserves mention in the pantheon of guitarists. Add to that what they did with their horns, their three distinct vocals early on and I've often felt that they've been snubbed for the "hit machine" Cetera and record companies made them into. :thumb:

Add to that what they did with their horns, their three distinct vocals early on and I've often felt that they've been snubbed for the "hit machine" Cetera and record companies made them into. :thumb: I agree that the early stuff was good, but many of the Cetera songs are painful to listen to. What that band turned into during the '80s went a long way toward destroying any good will from the early days. Especially those awful music videos.

I had to think about it a bit, but I'd have to agree that they deserve to be in as well (even though I don't much care for Rush, and Geddy Lee's voice is cringe-worthy at times). They are amazing musicians. But part of Rush's problem is there is no middle ground with them. You either love them or hate them. That's where they lose a lot of people. Jimmy Buffett is indeed awful. He can go into the Suck Hall Of Fame along with BonJovi, The Eagles, most of the hair-metal bands, all of the Nirvana/Pearl Jam ripoffs from the '90s, Dave Matthews Band and all the copycats, and hey, let's throw Garth Brooks in there while we're at it.

Many Hits that are household songs. The Eagles were inducted in 1998 despite the objections of Jim Shue. I'm a HUGE Eagles fan and he and I will just have to disagree on that point. :lol:
