While jobs were being added, jobs were also being lost, like woodsrider said, because of the housing market. Those jobs that were lost subtracted from those jobs that were created. 1.08 million jobs is not a lot but its still job creation. You have to consider all problems. You can't just look at one statistic and go "Welp! There it is. Only X many of jobs were created therefore he sucks." You have to look at reason behind it.

 

Which statistic should we view? Middle class wages? Deficit in relation to GDP? Unemployment rates?

All the problems you just listed are the ones that we face AFTER jobs go down the drain. Not necessarily the reason why jobs are not there.

I know we pay much of our debt with the SS trust fund, so actually it helps with deficits and does not contribute and is solvent under the current rules at least into the 40s, when I would then guess that many of the baby boomers will have petered out by then so it might not be nearly as bad as we think.

Republicans might want to talk about revamping Medicare and Social Security, but most voters don’t want to hear it.

You're backtracking. You said greatest program ever developed. No way a vast majority thinks that. I really do doubt if a vast majority think they're even a good program. Not under current conditions.

Did you look at the links and the polls? People would rather pay higher taxes than to do away with either social security or medicare. I am not backtracking, you bolded Vast Majority and I showed you polls, from conservative sites mind you, that a vast majority want to keep the programs.
