Arizona also has a history of underachieving in the tournament

With 1997 being an exception. :irked:

I don't think it was tipped. The throw was close to the line and as the player caught the ball he had one foot touch the line. I don't know the rule.

Did he catch it with both feet hitting the ground at near the same time? If he caught it with one foot in the front court and the other in the air and THEN put the 2nd foot in the backcourt it's a violation.

Yep, I think they were a 4 seed that year. Every year they were a 1 seed they foamed out. Of course those flame outs were under Merlin Olsen.

I think that is what happened.

From the brief clip it looks like he caught a throw-in and landed with his right foot on the line. That's not a violation.

However, he then traveled.

The whistle blew right away. Instantly. Ref blew the rule. It's a shame the refs have been so bad at end of game situtations in a lot of these close games because it takes away from the greatness of these games.

I just caught the replay again of the 4 second violation. Terrible job by the ref. Syracuse also got hosed by a terrible call. Tough situations.

How much time was left in the game when the backcourt violation was called?

Under 1 minute tie game. Marquette hit go ahead 3 with under 25 seconds left after being awarded the ball on the violation.

OK. Assuming the official would have nailed the kid for the travel it turned out OK. Hopefully.

^ He only traveled after the ref blew the whistle. He was complaining about the call.

Yep, but I don't think he knew the rule either so he was upset but he wouldn't have walked if the whistle didn't blow.
