Thanks for the link, fascinating to look at. In 2007 at the Fieldhouse and 2009 when held at the BOK each participating 10th region team got a little over 4,000.

What's funny is that in 2007 roughly 42,000 was reported in ticket sales, in 2009, it was roughly 52 thousand dollars in ticket sales. The extra money went to the BOK to hold the event.

 

That was $10000 that was well spent, alot of which was the price difference for tickets.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Reward teams who win region games, I was also glad to see that the 10th is right there as one of the most profitable regions of any in boys basketball. I'm really going to miss it when I leave this summer, you can't beat Kentucky high school basketball.

This is all what I have been told in the past and it could have changed in the last few years, but in the 16th MSU does not charge for the gym, but gets all the parking. The 8 teams divide the ticket sales equally and the individual districts rotate the concessions, so if you never make it you still get 1/4 on concessions every 4 years.

After all the arguments on BGP regarding the Fieldhouse vs. BOK. I'm really surprised to see that more tickets were sold at BOK than when held in the Fieldhouse.

I think the arguments are more for the environment that the Fieldhouse offers than anything else. I have never been to BOK and I'm sure it buries the Convo in Ohio, but attending a playoff game at the convo last year there was no emotion, it was a factory line of game after game. It didn't have any emotion to it at all. There was a nice crowd, but the place wasn't half full and depsite fans of the teams being in the game, it was hard to truly get wrapped up in it. I say that as a casual fan with no real dog in the fight.

 

As the numbers show, there was really no difference in payout to the schools.

I think the Fieldhouse is a great place for the region, however, it does give Mason County a home court advantage every year. As for ticket prices, it is cheaper, for me, to pay $10.00, plus parking at the BOK, than to drive to Mason County and pay $5.00 and park for free, gas 3.00 plus a gallon not to mention the hour drive each way. Nine miles to BOK, fifty two miles to the Fieldhouse. Eighty three miles cross country, or one hundred and five miles using I75 and I64 to Montgomery County is even worst, as total fan expenses goes. If there were no fans, no money would be made for any of the schools. Rotating between the three venues, seems the most fair to me. Granted, Mason is the most central location, but the travel will equal out over the three year rotation for everyone and not give all those home courts to Mason. Mason and Montgomery will still get their home court when they host. The NKY teams will never have a home court advantage. I think change is a hard thing to accept for all. jmo

In my opinion, (and Goldie can vouch that it's a good one :lol:), the environment at BOK was not lacking. Especially for the championship game.

 

The only thing that would give the Fieldhouse the advantage would be the tradition and that's just what we are used to, which isn't a bad thing at all.

 

Some people like some change, and others are afraid of it.
