NCC just out and out BEAT Ryle!! Good game to NCC.

You have to be one of the NCC fans who cursed in my ear all night.

I thought NCC played their offense a bit like Ryle did against Boone. Bartels and Theim had nice solid nights, but IMO Kiernan made the difference. Love to know how many RB's she got in addition to her scoring contribution. For a frosh to keep Crittendon as busy as she did is impressive.

Some great moves by Ryle, but they were out matched; not having Jump most of the game is tough. She has been sick for the last 3 games.

The region is, indeed, up for grabs.

Heard from my daughter that Ryle had 1 starter not even at the game due to illness, plus Jump and 1 other player very sick in game. Ryle did try to pick

up the pressure the 2nd half playing full court man to man trapping defense but I could tell watching this game they just didn't have the energy they normally do. NCC got them on a off night. Ryle will be healthy and ready to go in the tournament.

Congratulation to NCC on a nice win. I am just a little worn out by their Coach's slow, methodical, 70's basketball. It works for them but it felt like we were playing Highlands all over again. I'm just a fan, so this is just my way of venting a little. Your girls played a tough, hard nosed game.

 

Better get ready for another potential rematch since one of these two will be on your side of the bracket. Seems like that style is the style to play against Ryle since they only have two 9th region losses.

What game were you watching, most entertaining girls game I've seen all year. Both teams played very hard and physical. Very fun to watch. NewCath just played a little better defense than Ryle tonight. Ryle is very athletic and physical team, even more physical than NewCath. It's going to be one heck of a Regional Tournament.

So who was missing and who was sick for Ryle?

I know that Liz Meyer was home sick and that Abby Jump has been battling a virus for almost a week. NCC did a great job. They had a nice game plan and stuck to it. Congratulations.

I'm glad you said this. I thought the Ryle/Boone game sounded similar. Ryle took time off the clock against Boone and then pretty much spread the floor for 1-on-1 basketball. It was not the prettiest basketball, but a great game plan that worked. These veteran coaches will usually have a great game plan, but the players' execution is the key.

 

If kids are going to get sick now's the time so they are healthy down the stretch. Like I said, based on what I've seen, there's a good chance that either Ryle or Boone or both teams will not be in the finals. They have to take care of business early and not let teams hang around and gain confidence.

 

FTR...playing at Highlands, NCC, and NDA is very very tough...so the outcomes of the Ryle and Boone games at those places are not really surprising and should never be considered a set-back. There are 4-5 teams that can get hot and win 3 games in the region tourney so there won't be room for any off-nights.

Boone, ND, Ryle, and NCC all have very legitimate shots to win the 9th. It will be about the matchups. Ryle would not meet Boone until the championship, so both of them will probably have to beat NDA/NCC to get there, and Ryle better hope Highlands is not on their side too.

Sounds like Dawn ball was the right ball ! You Don't go into a game saying lets give the fans a show. You say lets go out and do what it takes to win. You don't punch with a puncher you stick and move. Ryles coach I'm sure is seeing a trend here and will game plan to try to stop this, but if this is a weakness in Ryles system sometimes it is hard to change who you are and if thats the case they could be in trouble. I don't understand why Ryle stays in that zone so much. They have the athletes to play man all night against about anyone. I'm sure Ryle will rebound and be back to their winning ways. 9th is definately wide open!

I must say Ms.Crittenden is one athletic young lady. This is the first time I saw her play and very impressed. Her intensity was unbelievable. Great win for the NewCath ladies.

NCC always plays great defense they are probally the best defensive team in the region.

Agreed, but I do favor either Ryle or Boone in the Region on a big floor. I played my days in a true crackerbox ( Beechwoods old gym) so I know first hand how you can beat a top team in such circumstances.
