Holmes improves to 16-7 and will play Beechwood Saturday night.

Do you have details Walter? I couldn't make it. Had to watch grandson. Looks like pretty balanced scoring for the 'dawgs.

First quarter was back and forth with Coston hitting a three at the buzzer to tie the score at 13 apiece and key a 10-0 run.

Second quarter Coston opened it up with another 3 to give the Dogs the lead and they'd never look back. Between the end of the first quarter and start of second quarter Holmes went on a 16-4 run. With Holmes up 30-25, Gray hit a shot at the buzzer to send the Dogs in to the half up 7 at 32-25.

Third quarter was back and forth at the beginning until Gray hit back to back shots to send them up 9 at 42-33. Peterson then scored 6 straight for the Dogs on back to back and one plays to put the Dogs up 15 at 48-33 heading in to the 4th.

Fourth quarter Highlands got as close as 11 and trailed by as many as 17 but Hayes was clutch down the stretch from the line to seal the deal.

Kind of a boring game, to be honest. Highlands played a 2-3 zone the whole game and slowed the game down. Holmes played well defensively but missed a lot of easy shots down low around the rim. Refs let them play, which was good. I believe there was 5 fouls called in the first half and just 6 called in the second half until Highlands started fouling at the end.

Egan was hot for Highlands drilling 3 first half treys but they stopped looking for him. Crowley had a rough night shooting.

I thought Holmes shot really well from behind the arc.

Birds cut it to 11 with 2 min to play but couldn't get closer.

Good seeing you tonight, Q.

I don't see why "Red Dog" doesn't play more. He did well defensively late in the game.

His time will come brother. Good seeing you too man. Happy Birthday again.

Gotta love the female Bulldog fan screaming throughout the game at the refs even when the Dogs were up 14 with a minute to play. Lol

Does this mean that we can eliminate the Birds from serious contention for the 9th region crown or does this game give Birds' fans hope still?

How did Stewart do?

Didn't the good Senator get "asked to leave" a Highlands girls game a few years ago?

How did Stewart do?

It was only his second game back so naturally he was still a little rusty but overall he played pretty well, I think. It may not show in the box score but his defense and presence around the rim stopped several easy baskets for Holmes.

He also rebounded pretty well. The one complaint I'd have about Jack is that he isn't aggressive enough. Hopefully that aspect of his game will come back with more game time.

He didn't look 100% obviously but knocked down a few shots and did give the Birds a presence they havnt had since December. He was unable to condition for about 30 days so it's going to take a couple weeks.
