January 30, 201115 yr Hold the door, and ask them if they have a realationship with Jesus Christ. Well, I wish I could, but usually I say hello. I also hold it when I get off and new people are coming on. I have to tell you, I go to Southeast Christian Church. A co-worker of mine has been going there for awhile now as well, and I've been on him about getting baptized. Well, this past week, he emailed me to tell me, he was getting baptized after the 11:15 service. I told him, I'd stay to watch. After he got dunked he came up, full of electricity, you could feel the joy in his heart. He yelled to me and said, "you happy now", tears were running down my cheeks. Just wanted to share that.
January 31, 201115 yr I believe the amount of time I'll hold the door is directly proportionate to the attractiveness of the girl I'm holding it for. Seriously though, I've always been a door holder (sometimes awkwardly holding doors too long for people). On the elevator I usually smile and say "Hey" or "Good morning". If a conversation stems from there I go with it. I also ask what floor everyone needs to go to and press the buttons. If someone does happen to get off on the wrong floor, typically I won't notice until it's too late.
January 31, 201115 yr Story about door holding. I went to the Festival of Lights this year on a double date with my girlfriend, her friend and her boyfriend. We were going to the Elephant House (or whatever its called) and I opened the door for my group and found myself still there five minutes later letting everyone else in before a break in the line allowed me to finally enter. I didn't mind but my girlfriend was convinced I ditched them.
January 31, 201115 yr Some random scenarios of things I've noticed recently: You are entering an elevator, and you notice someone approaching. They're not right behind you, and the elevator will likely close before they arrive at the door do you: B) board the elevator and hold the door open for the person apporaching Similar question: You're on an elevator, and positioned closest to the selection panel. Do you: B) push your button and ask the others on the car what button they need pushed? And yet another elevator question: You're in an elevator with several other people. Do you: A) make eye contact, nod or say hi, or in any way acknowledge the others? You're going through a door, either entering or exiting a building/room. You see someone approaching and they're not too far away. Do you: B) Hold the door even if it causes you to stop for a minute I'm a people person, so I talk to anyone who will listen. :lol: I enjoy holding the door for people as well.
