January 21, 201115 yr Some random scenarios of things I've noticed recently: You are entering an elevator, and you notice someone approaching. They're not right behind you, and the elevator will likely close before they arrive at the door do you: A) board the elevator and push your floor and watch as the doors close? B) board the elevator and hold the door open for the person apporaching C) board the elevator, push your floor AND the Door Close button to ensure you get to your destination as quickly as possible without waiting for the approaching person Similar question: You're on an elevator, and positioned closest to the selection panel. Do you: A) push your button and stand silently facing forward? B) push your button and ask the others on the car what button they need pushed? And yet another elevator question: You're in an elevator with several other people. Do you: A) make eye contact, nod or say hi, or in any way acknowledge the others? B) make small talk, because you never know if you'll be stuck in there with them. C) ignore everyone You're going through a door, either entering or exiting a building/room. You see someone approaching and they're not too far away. Do you: A) Just go on out the door without care. B) Hold the door even if it causes you to stop for a minute Just some random Friday thoughts. :lol:
January 21, 201115 yr I always hold the door for people coming.... ...another thing I do in an elevator that drives my wife nuts, is I stand in the front, and turn around and look at everyone staring forward. It really makes some people uncomfortable.

Elevator stops at a floor prior to the lobby and they start to get off. Do you say "not the lobby" or do you let them get off and then realize it's not the lobby?

I have no way of knowing if they accidentially hit the wrong button or not. Not my business.

Also usually give the standard, "How's it going?" or "Good morning!". If that leads to further conversation, I'm cool with it.
January 21, 201115 yr If Im on an elevator and if everyone on it is silent during the ride I usually say nice talking with you to everyone when I get off at my floor .

January 21, 201115 yr Nothing worse than the elevator door opening and having someone standing there but they decide to wait for someone else. Just happened to me. I asked if they were coming. She said she would wait. Either I scared her or she was waiting for someone else. If the latter, why push the button?

Seriously...some women are afraid to ride in an elevator with just one man in there with them. We have it happen all the time here at work.
