Don't see any records of it listed but I will ask "The Men who should know" Mr. Tieman and or Mr. Kaelin on Tuesday but I will agree, if there is a record, he will blow by it!

As for the game, Jake Thelen dominated. Simply put. St. X had no answer for him and honestly I was very surprised that St. X is in the Cincy top 10. They sure didn't look like it. Their shooting was sub-par, to say the least. They were extremely good taking care of the ball though. They had just 6 turnovers to Covcath's 28....yes, 28.

 

Baker played well for Covcath down low as well and really impressed me defensively. TOG wasn't lying when he said the kid can jump out of the gym. I believe he had 3 blocks alone in the first half.

 

Riedinger, Maschinot, and Connelly also looked pretty good for Covcath. Maschinot is extremely quick with the ball and showed great body control when driving the lane.

 

Overall, a solid performance by Covcath and Coach L has great depth this year. Hayden, the 6'4 junior, also played well off the bench.

 

The turnovers against St.X press has to worry the CCH faithful though. Against a team with a better offense, Covcath may find themselves on the other side of the scoreboard.

Yes, I fixed it right after I saw that I posted Hardin. But he does look pretty solid for a junior. Nice size at 6'4 as well.

 

A Covcath guy told me tonight that if Covcath had been playing Holmes, a team that hit the outside shot, they would've been in trouble. St. X struggled mightily from the perimeter and missed A LOT of layups. (Credit some of that to Covcath's size inside)

Not all bad, assuming they don't have to play each other in the opening round of districts.

FYI, there are two teams that full court press within the district now. I heard HC full court pressed Boone the whole game and goes 9-10 players deep.

Cov. Cath. Makes Case for Kentucky

While it might have been a empty gym, CovCath easily had the largest and loudest student body in attendance this entire weekend.

 

My guess is the Crazies had around a hundred students who were were camouflaged in Red tonight! Why Red I asked a senior Crazy and the answer I got was that they knew St. Xavier would be in Blue so..... Then again, other than the St. Xavier players, I didn't notice a single Bomber student attending the game!

 

Gentlemen you were outstanding again :notworthy: but Mr Hartman still excepts each and everyone of you in class on Monday morning and I would think Mr. Rowe would want you to keep those calendars at home! :sssh:

 

Considering that it was a holiday showcase, I guess Red made sense. It made for some good photo ops with Mrs. Claus too. :lol:
