I'd give some of them a break. There are some kids on here who are a lot farther along than others and can provide some interesting and quality insights and thoughts to our discussions on here.

The only reason Sexton is as good as he is, is because Popham can frame anyball Sexton throws to him

 

Sexton is good no matter who is catching him. I've caught 'pens for him and he has it all. That is not saying Pop isn't any good because he is (would get my vote for top NKY catcher) but to say he is what makes Sexton good is unfair to the talent and hardwork that Tyler puts forth.

Pretty sure what you're responding to was a post from some kid allegedly stealing someone else's identity.

 

There is no catcher at the high school level (or any level for that matter) that can frame "any pitch" someone throws and get an umpire to call a strike. The smart catchers know you don't even try except on pitches that are just off the plate. Trying to frame a pitch that is more than a couple inches off the plate is silly, as the glove movement will be too obvious. It's more likely to annoy the umpire than "trick" him into calling a strike on a pitch well outside the zone. BTW, I'm sure you know this stuff. This was for the benefit of the original kid poster who was apparently trying to disparage Sexton.

I didn't read on past that post so I didn't see where it was said the identity was stolen.

 

But yes I am aware that a catcher can't make a pitcher through "framing". As someone that has worked with many baseball players and umpires, I agree that it is more likely to annoy the umpire than to get them to change the call.

Avery Wood a freshman at CCHS. Strong arm and a great knowledge of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't see some varsity time.
