If that's what you think okay you are entitled to opinions I totally disagree. Wins are wins and they shouldn't feel bad for scheduling East Boyd which plays Raceland also. Ashland I'll give you but really to be honest they aren't a great program anymore. They are solid but not like they used to be. Bottom line is have your team ready for districts. I know it's a hard pill for Raceland fans to swallow but Fairview along with Raceland should be battles next few years. Once again good luck to Rams.

Eagles, better not over look The Burg. Enjoy the long bus ride, because the game will not be a lot of Fun, Williamsburg is a tough place to play at, one might say they seem to get the breaks there. Fairview in a close game!!!

I hope you are right. We love the competition. I don't think that is a tough pill to swallow. That's what we want. Getting beat by you guys one time since 2003 makes us hungry to stop your streak at 1.

I will just repeat some info that I posted on another thread and be done with it.

 

Actually Fairview has had better sucess in the last 10 years. I will give them credit.

Fairview currently will have had 4 straight winning seasons and from 2000 thru 2009 they had won 64 games. That averages out to about 6.5 wins a season. Mainly that high bc of the previous 2 seasons where they won 8 games in each and in 2002-2004 where they had the Huntington transfer C. Jennings and a couple of others that transferred from Russell and they won 27 games.

So Fairview has averaged 6.5 wins per year from 2000-2009. That (6 wins per season) is not a good record at all at some places like Ashland,LCA, Russell and Raceland (and to be fair/honest we had a few bad seasons, 6 wins or less and one with only one win during the early 2000's) but for Fairview it is outstanding. Especially considering all of their previous history since they started playing footbal around 1970/71 or so thru 1999. I think Fairview has beaten Raceland around 8 to 10 times in the history of the 40 years or so series, I'm not sure. I believe Raceland won around 16 years in a row over Fairview (from the early/mid 80's thru the late 90's I believe).

So, bottom line is that it is true that Fairview has improved since the year 2000. and should be commended for that Now, who they have played through most of those seasons has something to do with it but their schedule is their choice and I am tired and not going to go through it again. :deadhorse:

I just want someone to show me a team that Fairview has beat the last two or three years with a winning record besides the win against Raceland this year! And what is the total winning percent of the teams that fairview has played the past five years to try and get these seven or eight wins per year. Say 10% winning percent!!!

Are you saying the Tomcats would have a rough time beating Fairview??????

I will respectfully disagree. I have seen the younger eagles and I have seen the young Rams and what they have done on the field against each other. Unless more kids move into Westwood, this is still not a true rivalry. It has to happen more than once a decade. Heck, even GC beats Russell once a decade, are they now a power in 4A?

I have not seen Raceland's younger kids but I have definately heard of the talent from the absolutely loaded Freshman class all down through the jfl. At least right now things look bright for several years in RamLand :thumb::thumb:, business as usual.

Expectations are always high in Raceland no matter who we have or how many graduated from previous years. Make no excuse......Excuses are for the weak just looking for a reason to lose.

 

Also, thanks for straightening things up, I had no idea that GCHS was a 4A state power.

Hate to break in on the Raceland Fairview discussion but was going to talk a second about the weather for the game and how it may affect each team..The forecast is for a really nice night..dry but chilly with a high of 75 and a low of 39. I think it bodes well for the passing game and it should be a good track to play on. I do wish Fairview a safe trip down.
