Whitley vs Corbin Not Happening

Featured Replies

It appears Coach Jewell would not commit to playing home and home 2013-14. Sad, players, fans, alumni, boosters, communities, parents and SEKY football fans want to see it.

Why doesnt Corbin ever play Whitley and Knox. I know Corbin plays the Laurel schools, so why not just add those as well.

It's a shame that Corbin would not agree to a home and home, can't blame Whitley for wanting it before agreeing to play Corbin in the Pigskin. I think the Varsity Club also is making a huge mistake by not allowing Whitley to play in the Pigskin anyway without playing Corbin, although I think that I know the reason for that................

Corbin has ducked Bell Co. for years. Next year in same Dist., have fun Corbin. This is bad with the storied program that Corbin has they should at least play Whitley Co.

So you are saying Corbin is scared to play Whitley and Knox

I'm not sure what the word would be for not playing Whitley. Corbins 8th graders won Middle State as 7th and 8th graders. They would be Jr and Sr the home and home series. They would get 2 home games to Whitleys 1. For some reason Corbin is avoiding.

Whitley and Knox Co. both dropped Corbin many years ago and would not play them, not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. They did play Knox Central a couple of years ago in the Pigskin, although those games are scheduled by the Varsity Club and not Coach Jewell. He has his reasons I guess for not scheduling these teams, the players, fans, and You and I may not agree with it, but until it becomes a financial liability, I don't expect anyone to force his hand on this.

Won't play Williamsburg either I heard. The gate from these locals games would be HUGE for both schools.

Corbin would have no problem in the next 5 years or so with Knox, Whitley, or williamsburg. Just saying....

Obviously none of you guys read the newspaper or know anything about the situation! Coach Jewell said himself that he has the schedule already made out for the next two years, it's not Corbin doesn't want to play whitley. You can't just schedule games with a two year contract and say well were going to drop you now because Whitley wants a home and home game for playing in our bowl, it doesn't work like that!

The games that were mentioned in this thread were for 2013 and 2014 so the schedule for the next 2 years doesn't have anything to do with it.

No where near right. Knox and Whitley would play them good next 4 years and Wburg would 2013-14. Just saying...

Knox Central and Whitley are very capable of beating Corbin now and also over the next five years. I'm pretty sure that KC would be favored over Corbin this year and Whitley would be considered even. I think that most Corbin fans realize that losing to any of these teams is not the end of the world as we know it, all three have good football programs now.

If I were making the schedule, I assure you it would include Whitley, Knox Central, both Laurel Co. schools and Middlesboro. I would like to play Williamsburg as well, just not sure that they could be squeezed in with 4 district games and the Pigskin.
