You seem to be taking this awfully personal. You can blame it on the Tea Party all you want be the fack is Cal elected a democrat Gov by 53.8% - 41.2% and democart Senator 52.2% - 42.4% and defeated prop 19 46.2% - 53.8%. It appears to me more then just the Tea Party opposed it. I would be willing to be that more then 71% of people who supported the "Tea Party Movement" voted for Whitman but that sure didn't get her elected.

I'm going from memory, but this morning I think the stat was 53% voted no and 47% voted yes. That's about 500,000 votes in CA, though. Still, it's another small step towards legalizing marijuana...at least in California.

A difference of 547,119 votes.

 

The older democrats in the state are the reason this was defeated just like they are the reason Brown was elected Gov and Boxer gets another term in the Senate.

Using the following numbers you provided I'm not sure how factual that is.

So that's a total of 7,266,671 votes cast in this race. According to the exit polls for Prop 19 32% of the people in the race identified themselves as "Tea Party Supporters", that is 2,325,335 votes. 71% of that number will get you to 1,650,988 votes. Take even half of those and you will easily surprass the 547,119 votes that failed this proposition.
