I don't dispute that the Tea Party Members helped to defeat this but the olders Dems voting against it and the younger generation just not showing up for this mid term election is what really hurt the chances of this passing.

I will wholeheartedly agree that the younger generation who chose to stay at home were a big detriment to it's success.

 

I'll give you that my statement about them defeating it was misleading. But the idealogically confused that make up the majority of the Tea Party could have easily passed it and in my opinion it doesn't take a leap in logic to see that based on how the Tea Party "supposedly" feels on most issues then idealogically this should have been something they support. But alas, the Tea Party is just the next "in" thing and I feel will ultimately lead in a lot more steps backwards than forward. Just like the Christian Right ruined the GOP, the Tea Party will no doubt lead to the demise of any real "liberty" movement...but I'm hoping to be proven wrong on this.

I guess it comes back to that individual responsibility thing except when it's something they don't agree with then let the government tell you what to think.
