Ryle's Conner Hempel Will Play Football at Harvard

Featured Replies

It was announced publicly during the pre-game senior ceremonies. Conner will attend Harvard and play football for the Crimson. Congrats!!

On a related side note, it is rather apparent that he received far more of his IQ genes from his mother's side. :p

Forget football. What a great achievement to be enrolled at an Ivy League school! Hats off to him.

Wow. Big-time for Conner. It would be tough to pass up that rare opportunity. So baseball is out of the question?

Great job Connor!!! You have been a great leader for Ryle all three years as a starter and you deserve this!

I don't believe Harvard will let him play both sports.

I'm probably one of the few that watch the annual Harvard/Yale battle. Can't wait to see Conner in that game.

Let me know if he winds up in the Freshman Expository Writing program. I have a fairly close family connection.

Congrats!

This is big-time. As someone mentioned...forget football...this kid is going to Harvard. I can only hope my 3 little ones turn out to be just like him. His parents got quite a bit of exposure on TV during the game, and they seem like great people.

Mason County's Richie Cox (2008) was recruited as an "athlete". It's my understanding that he was pretty much told that it was "either, or" - not both.

The current Crimson QB is Andrew Hatch who started at Harvard, switched to LSU where he started for a while , and then went back to Harvard. He's the only SR qb on the roster.

The coach is former UC coach Tim Murphy.

Same for Conner. With the rigorous academic demands at Harvard, they don't want students playing sports year round. He could easily play baseball for them, but choose to go the football route.

Congrats to Conner! I have to assume you are very close to him by the side note! He is a great kid and the Ryle family is very lucky to have him as a representative of the team and school.

Congrats to Conner. He is a great athlete and spoke so well of his teammates in the post game interview. His parents seemed like really good people as well from what they showed on TV. Good Luck in your future young man.

Congrats to Conner. Great player, even better person. Harvard is lucky to get him. Pretty awesome family also.
