Jesse Jett? From Scott? He isn't even the best player from Scott in the last 10 years.

 

Both Andy & Kevin Listerman had excellent careers. I'd guess that their career numbers compare favorably to some of the names being mentioned here, but there's no way that they're 10 top players in the history of NKY basketball.

Brian Lewin from Cov Cath committed to D1 Lafayette & ended up decommitting & going to NKU for a bit.

 

Mike Brock (Eastern KY); Ross Neltner (LSU then Vandy); Justin Doellman (Xavier); Brennan Votel (UPenn); a few kids from Holmes, right?

 

Scotty Bibbins, David McFarland, Travis Rasso & Corey Sorrell all played at Northern.

Interesting that Jesse Jett has the 5th most assists in a single game with 18. February 23, 1996 against Gallatin Co.

Jesse went to Marshall for a while before having an issue or two. He was far better than Thompson IMO. He was very talented. My point was he had D1 talent and not many from this region have in the last 15 years.

Having watched Dicky all through high school let me answer your question. Ricardo wouldn't stop him. Zero chance. His only chance would be to somehow recover but zero chance of keeping him in front of him.

 

Agree with you Clyde. If my memory serves me correctly, I remember a Holmes/Holy Cross game where Dicky brought back a Holmes team from a 14 point hole almost single handily to win that game in the last quarter. How off is my memory?

 

I also remember Dicky outjumping Melvin Turpin on a jump ball when #1 ranked Henry Clay (I think that's the HS Melvin attended) was defeated at Evans Fieldhouse. Heck of a game.

^ I played some pickup with Jett and he was a very good passer. Not saying he's anywhere close to being an all-timer but very unselfish PG.

I've got to admit that I don't remember much about Jett. Initially I confused Jett with Jamie Medved, the Aussie who played at Scott for a few years. Regarding Thompson, I was just trying to think of other players from Scott. :lol:

 

Lye was tough. He was undersized at the collegiate level, but he was a handful for high school basketball.

As far as top 10 would go IMO Neltner and Schloemer are locks for winning Mr. Kentucky. Draud and Beal are locks b/c they're that good. After that I have no idea how to put the next 6 together but I'd personally have Doellman and Ricardo Johnson in there. My knowledge of the older guys (including Draud and Beal) is all from stories because I never saw them play, but I couldn't fairly decide who's better than who. Of all the guys I've seen Harney in high school was as good as anyone left that played from 1990 until now.

Jett was very good. The guys from the mid 90's get lost in conversations like these because the all timers are so well known and the newer guys are fresher in everyones minds. 93-97 alone had some very talented players. I think Rob Padgette is a top 5 all time scorer in the region and he rarely gets mentioned. Harney and Clark went D1. McKinley from SK went to Louisville. The Listermans were around this time. Krohman and Gibson from SK were good. Lloyd had some players. Holmes was very good. I'm probably missing some guys too.

He finished his career as the third leading scorer and rebounder in LSU history, with 1,284 points for a 17.4 average and 722 rebounds for a 10.4 average. He led LSU in scoring and rebounding for three consecutive years, averaging 17.2 points and 9.8 rebounds in 1965, 20.7 points and 10.5 rebounds in 1964, and 14.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in 1963.

I really don't understand why some of you mention Neltner and Doellman but not Brock?

 

Brock was the best of the bunch that year, IMO, but because he didn't campaign he didn't win Mr. Basketball. (Ask Mike and he'll be the first to tell you that he didn't campaign for Mr. Basketball and that's why he didn't win it)
