I like the changes, maybe kids will focus on warming up rather than putting on a show before games (dunking, parading around, etc)

Yes and I remember some stare downs by referees waiting on that hand to be raised. I also remember if your best player was in foul trouble other players raising their hands trying to get the foul called on them.

 

Shaq did that the other night in the Celtics-Heat game. Rondo committed the first foul, Shaq raised his hand and the foul was called on him.

These rule changes lean to the cautious, but I like them.

Totally agree. Silly rule IMO.

 

Simple explanation. Reduce the wear and tear on the rims. During the game, there are limitations onthe amount of time you can hang on the rim. No such limtations in warm-ups and as someone said earlier, warm-ups have turned into "showtime" rather than preparation time. And if you've ever had to pay to replace one of these breakaway rims, you'd totally understand.
