4.) Jake Thelen – Covington Catholic

5.) Travis Montgomery – Boone County

7.) Donnie Cheatum – Lloyd Memorial

8.) Jack Stewart – Highlands

9.) Brandon Hatton – Dixie Heights

10.) D'Vontae Bradley - Cooper

I must admit, I'm very surprised to see Bradley in there. A lot of other good players in the 9th region that are better than him, IMO.

Considering this is a "preseason guess" as to who the top 10 players are, Bradley could be in or out as well as a few other 9th region players.

I don't think Hodges and Stauffer are better than Thelen and yes Bradley can be that good. He just hasn't been on a very good team.

Interesting. I think Hodges at two is a little high for him right now. I will be one of the first to argue his potential, but he needs to prove more. I didn't expect to see Trammel in there at all. Not because he isn't good enough, but he just didn't play last year. How do you rank him? Bradley is the biggest shocker. I agree with Walter that there are several other players who I feel are more deserving. Chris Hayes, Tyler Fangman, and Jacob Flesch all come to mind.

At some point during the season---perhaps not the beginning because he may be playing late into the soccer season---St Henry's Zach Barnett will put himself into the middle of the list. Averaged double figures along with two graduated seniors; very good from 3-point, drawing and shooting FT's. Once Coach Faust defines the personality of this year's team, which actually may finally have some size coming up, Zach will regain the attention that some of the multi-sport players understandably lose over the summer.

10 players from 10 different schools and no Holmes players?

Once the season starts this list can be thrown away.

Whoops, sorry, didn't see the two Dixie players listed.

What qualifies an individual as a top 10 player?

This is my opinion and these qualities would be compared to others in the ranking pool.

A top 10 player should have intelligence. A high basketball IQ is essential.

A well rounded skill set. (Dribbling, passing, rebounding, shooting, and defending)

A high level athletic ability.

The motivation to lead.

The desire to win.

It doesn't hurt to add good sportmanship in there either.

I beleive truely top players should have a good attitude about the game.

Does anyone know how many coaches were involved in the voting.

I would imagine they ask all the coaches of the 9th, as for which ones actually respond and give their opinion, your guess is as good as mine.

As for Zach Barnett goes, I wouldn't say he will be in the middle of the list at any point in this season. Maybe towards the bottom of the list if he has a good season but I'd still say its a stretch. He is good don't get me wrong, but from the games I have seen, he makes alot of shots, but also misses alot. He is very quick and can handle the ball pretty well but his size will hurt him if he drives to take it in the paint. I notied he has a very very quick shot though which is definitly a good asset. Hope him and the rest of the Crusaders have a great season!

You rank Trammell because he had a great summer season. I think he will bring more this season than anyone expects.

Don't get me wrong. No disrespect to Trammel. I have witnessed his game and am also expecting to see big things from him this year. I was just questioning the ranking because it is a coaches poll. He didn't play last year due to injury and I am not sure how many different high school coaches saw him play over the summer.

Trammel started as a sophomore so I'm sure a few coaches were aware of his game....he'll more than likely be the best point guard in the 9th this year.

Definitely a fun kid to watch.
