If Bracken County, Lewis County, and Paris survived, then I would imagine Raceland will too.

 

From what I have heard just losing the game is not the issue.

O.K. guys and gals, I have been tossing, turning over this game all week. I have to say that the latest thing I have found promises a Rams loss.

Some parents have been coming in to the administrtion at Raceland begging them to not play this game, to forfiet and not even make the short drive to Westwood/west Ashland. Parents (and some players if all the truth was known) are very worried and fearful that Raceland just cannot compete physically with Fairview, parents are so afraid that their children will be beat beenen up so bad they will be injured so bad it may have long time phisical effects on their boys.

Raceland has been beaten badly on the scoreboard before. Thats not the issue this time at all,you can recover from that. This surpasses the sting of losing a football game. I can never remember something like this at RamLand before! Raceland (some parents) not wanting their sons to even play the game for fear of a physical beating so bad that would cause long lasting effects from injuries.

Maybe there is something to this.....:idunno:, I don't know but I will say that Raceland may not be able to physically ( hitting and physical play) match up with Fairview with the Eagles.

I know some boys and coaches that do not agree with this! The Daily Independent gives us no chance, the AP and the Litkenhouse rankings, etc. have written us off. I, for one hope that all the disrespect shown to our program this week is bottled up into some 55 gallon drums and a butt whippin' is given. But guess what? The game is played between the white lines and not by us on BGP's. Good luck to both teams and let's hope the Orange and Black come out on top.

I also just heard that WLGC was broadcasting this game but on a delayed basis due to them carrying the Russell game live. Does anyone have any definate info on this? Should this be the case could anyone tell me if onother station will broadcast it/ webcast it live?

Unfortunately, Raceland sports do not offer enough radio revenue to warrant a radio broadcast full-time. It's a shame because we definitely have loyal fans that would listen and patron the advertisers that would support the broadcast. We are kind of like NASCAR fans that buy only the products that support their sport. Just sayin'..........

I realize that. I was just hoping that another station might pick it up due to the large amount of interest in this game are wide, not just in Raceland/Worthington and Westwood/L.A. (Lower Ashland:D) but area wide. As most that know me know I am not currently able to make it to the games due to severe physical limitations. I for one and I am sure there are others that woul really iike to have a station cover our games.

Heck, I have been a Raceland fan for over 45 years and more. My big sisters would take me to the games when I was little as they are Raceland alums as well. Whenever I have bloodwork done it comes out Orange and Black, my blood type is R.A.M.-Positive.

We are as good as done, if this is true. If parents are concerned about their kids being injured, they need to be playing tuba in the band. Is Fairview playing dirty? Have they intentionally injured any kids on the other teams? Ashland and Greenup are both fairly physical teams. I hope this is some sort of set up. We need to have our heads on straight when we line up for the first kick off. We need to play as physical as we have all season!!

Oh, oldrambler, I was hoping this behavior would not get out and be seen by the public. But, I guess the eagle is out of the bag. I think parents, and fans, are just worried the physicality of this Fairview team coupled with the number of defeats that Fairview has suffered at the hands of Raceland is just going to make this game to much of a physical strain on our young Rams. Fairview is big, strong, and mean, I just don't think that will match up well with our young, shy, and weaker players. I understand their worries. I am a parent as well, and having a freshman on this Raceland team all I can say is I'm glad he's a freshman and likely won't have to be subjected to the physical and mental abuse the Fairview players are going to be dishing out on the field Friday. On the other hand, I am still worried, because with the down right raw strength of Fairview, there may be some Raceland players that can't continue playing and my little boy will have to trot on the field and be in direct fire of the Eagle's anger. I sure hope that doesn't happen.

 

I think the dominance that Fairview has shown to this point this season, put with the obvious acts of intimidation performed by the Eagles off the field, that some parents and fans see this game as dangerous to Raceland. I sure hope the young Rams can withstand this type of game, God love them for trying, I just pray they be strong and fight the fight.

I know what you mean Ram, your boy is just a Feshman and at that age his body, bone density and overall strength may not be developed enough to withstand the hits that a much stronger, more experienced Fairview team can deliver. Heck, as you said this entire Raceland team is a youg h.s. footall team and may not be ready. From what you and others have been reporting our Jr. High kods are more physical and hit harder than our varsity. :ohbrother:

That was what I was talking about in that that some parents were concerned enough that they wanted a first time in history event for Raceland....to forfiet a football game!
