California. Moved here two months ago. July 14th is the exact date actually.

Um, most of us in Ky. know the LA abbreviation stands for "Louisville Area."

I'm a former smoker who despises being around cigarette smoke---but I believe it should be up to an individual business to determine whether or not they allow smoking. And to think of banning it outside it ludicrous.

Don't we all pay for smoker's healthcare today?

Yes, we do. I don't mind smoking being legal, but make the smokers bear the full cost of their self-destructive decision.

Yea, and I would rather pay for my own health problems and not everyone elses.

Why don't you buy the studies, out of curiosity?

Fair enough question. I don't trust studies as much as I used to, often I think they're skewed for one reason or another, such as monetary reasons (think Global Warming). I also find it extremely hard to believe that you can get much higher particulate levels from sitting next to a smoker than being at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel. Another problem I have is they don't cite who did the studies or offer any links to the studies.

I don't agree with a smoking ban inside or out. However if smokers would be more courteous then I think alot of the problems go away. I can't stand when someone is standing directly outside of the door to a resturant smoking where you have no choice but to walk through thier smoke.

I agree completely.

I think that it is a good thing that smoking is generally banned indoors in many places...especially work. I would also think that businesses could apply to be a smoking business..mainly bars, and portray themselves as such. No one is forced to go there. As far as health, smoking is bad, so is being overweight. Is fatness going to be outlawed as well?
