Seems like a typical win for Raceland over Nicholas County, a bit of a struggle...perhaps not pretty...but not a nailbiter. Congratulations to the Rams on the win. Raceland has one more week to tune things up before finishing off the season with 3 good ones at Fairview, home against LCA, and at Russell.

 

I know this is a bit off topic, but something just hit me when looking at Raceland's schedule. Why in the world do they only have 4 home games for the season???

A reliable source told me that the Rams had a couple of scores called back in this one.

Raceland gets a win tonight at Nicholas County to go 4-2 on the season and 1-0 in the district.

I'll look foward to hearing about this one from the "Orange Mafia" when they get back. Hopefully we got out of this one without any injuries.

Ryan, we have that every other year due to always playing Ashland at their place.

Went to the game. Right before the game started it started pouring the rain. Rained hard off and on till halftime. The field was really slippery the entire game. The score at the end of the first quarter was 6-0 NCHS. They controled the first quarter. The second quarter will started waking up a little. At the half we were up 14-6. We had a TD called back in the third qurter for having 12 men on the field. TJ wasn't happy because we never subbed. We owned the fourth quarter. #34 Michael Litteral was running like a machine. Had a couple scores. One was around 50 yards bouncing off tacklers.

The clock went out in the third quarter so we were all a little lost. I thought the pass defense gave up way to much. Farley did a good job of hitting his open receivers. Looked like he checked down a couple times and hit his second or third receiver. Only one or two bad decisions over all. Not bad for a sloppy field. Hard to make it cuts on the field tonight. NCHS has some nice players. They hit you and love doing it!! Not a bad team..

I was wrong on Mike L. #34 scoring two td's. He scored one it looks like. But he ran so well it looked like he could have scored three or four!! Great running #34.

He had one called back because of the mysterious substitution penalty.

1-0 in the district! I thought we responded well to adversity. The weather conditions are a staple in this series. I have been with Raceland for 5 years and it has rained all 5 times. Coach Maynard said it best before the game, "It doesn't matter if you are a running team or a passing team in the rain. It's all about ball security."

 

My negatives from the game. 1. Too many mistakes on the field to be in week 6. 2. Too soft when we tackle and our offensive line isn't attacking. 3. We don't have a mean kid on the team! We need some swagger and attitude. You football guys know what I mean by, "mean".

 

Anyway, congratulations and keep focused on Paris next week. It's Homecoming and that can sometimes be a distraction.
