I agree, time will tell, I do hope that I get to see a rematch this year at Bell. I made the trip over last year and watched a great game between them and I really felt like Boyle had a much better team than Bell did last year. I will say this though, at this point and time in the season and I have watched both, Bell is clearly much better than Boyle. As purplepride said, Boyle needs to get the defense fixed, but they have plenty of time to get that done and i'm sure they will.

And this is for Whackem, Bell is not my team, I just enjoy watching great football teams and Bell & Boyle both fit in that category.

So, what's the deal with JC? They nearly lost to Sheldon Clark last week, only winning by two, and inched by Knox Central by just one point prior to that. Also, they got a scare from Cooper until finally putting them away late in the game. What gives?

 

Sheldon Clark is one of the best AAA football teams in the state. That game being close is no surprise to anyone close to the SC program. Knox is better than most think. Cooper I can't really speak for.

Just got in (12:45) from my first ever Bell County/Log Mountain football game. Had a great time, everyone around was very nice, just didn't get to meet any BGPers. If anyone saw a man wearing a maroon Garrard County t-shirt that was my dad; I was the younger guy beside him.

 

As for the game, Johnson Central looked really strong in the first quarter. Bell County had limited possession early and then threw the ball quite a bit in the second quarter. It wasn't until they went almost exclusively to the ground in the second half that they truly began to dominate Johnson Central. I was very impressed with Bell County. They have a solid quarterback, very nice offensive line, a couple of terrific backs, and then that defense.

 

I was impressed with Johnson Central's size and skill. I was, however, 100% unimpressed with the way Johnson Central carried themselves and the way they played. The players spent the entire night talking to the officials, complaining, nearly fighting with Bell County and with their own players. To Bell's credit, the Bobcat players seemed much more composed. Johnson Central's coach spent about five minutes at midfield complaining/discussing/talking/befriending (who knows) with the referees at halftime for whatever reason. The Johnson Central players seemed to be a reflection of him. I hated to see this, and I'm hoping it was a one time thing which I caught them on a bad night in many ways. Who knows?

 

All in all, had a great time tonight. Looking forward to a potential Thanksgiving return visit for Boyle/Bell.

I believe both teams played the 1st and 2nd half.....wonder why both teams weren't "gassed out"?

 

Maybe the same way Bell supporters talked about "running out of gas" last year against Alcoa? :idunno:

No wonder Jude has so many rushing yards.

It didn't really bother me that their starters were still in. And Jude is a really good back; he was putting up decent yards the entire game. But with Johnson Central still going all out, I was glad Bell County kept pushing to score as well. The running of Cory Davenport, especially in the second half was outstanding. And I thought the late touchdown run by Ryan Collett was one of the best, most patient runs you can ever see from a sophomore. Of course the touchdown catch from Oslonian was awesome, but I was more impressed with his blocking. He absolutely sealed off the edge all night long.

In that game Alcoa had I guess 90 something players while Bell may have had 40. Depth was a big issue in that game IMO.

Different type of teams there my friend......you gotta see Alcoa before you can understand. Yes Bell did run out of gas against Alcoa last year. When you have an offensive unit, defensive unit, special teams that never have to play both ways it makes a huge difference. Bell and JC had players that played both ways so the "gassed out" comment doesn't fit here imo.

First of all I want to say congrats to the Bell Co. Bobcats. You all have a fine team and the matchup (I know its early) between Boyle and Bell should be dandy. Would love to see that.

 

Now as for JC. This is a team that appears to be in a mid season slump. I had high hopes for this group after the week 0 matchup with Boyle, but now not so much. The pass defense is pourous to say the least, and the run D isnt much better. The offense has become way to predictable and we dont have the O-line I thought we would have by this time of the year. The passing game, although slightly improved, is no real threat. JC has the athletes and size in place to be a solid contender, but things arent looking good. I would go as far to say that we arent the best team in our district currently. Things will have to improved dramatically if JC expects to go into Putnam and come out with the W.
