I am curious how many total points the Colonels have given up going back 2 seasons plus this year's games. They have to avg giving up more than 30 pts a game.

Not that it would have mattered tonight but more of glass half full for the future, CCH was playing without a starting LB (Guess) and their top hitter Paul Ritter. Ritter will be back next week. Not sure about Guess.

How did tonights LaSalle team compare to other strong teams you have seen the Colonels play over the years?

 

Ranked way up there with the Moellers, St X's and the Elders of the past. Teams speed was incredible. They had 411 yards at half with 20 first downs. They stayed pretty base offense. Bir was running for his life. They ran the option a few times and could have run it all night. We could not get around the corners with our backs when we tried to run. I truly believe this LaSalle team beats any NKY team this year. Their QB Kummer was as good as any we've seen since I've been on the air. He had a HUGE fast target in Coleman that stood about 6'-3" that they could have lobbed to all night long. LaSalle beats Elder this year and gives Moeller and St. X a game.

I was told by one of the Lancers media people, that they look for great things from this group of seniors and indeed they play a lot of them.

 

The Lancers football field is nice and since we don't have lights it's hard to complain but the lighting on the field especially near the 50, just seemed rather dark to me and others. Had to be the darkest field I can remember CovCath playing on in years and Clyde is correct, only the parking at HHS is worse.

Again have to agree with Clyde, not sure the CovCath 06 team would beat this team.

 

Now I am not saying that LaSalle would have put up 50 on the 06 Colonels, or the 06 Colonels would have only scored 7 but.... I don't think the 06 squad would have beat this team either.

 

Honestly, keep an eye out for this LaSalle team.

I wasn't confused at all when I posted I think LaSalle is probably better than Highlands. If we do want to debate that point please start another thread.

 

Back to CCH, it has been a roller coaster so far, big loss to Ryle, big win over LexCath, and big loss to LaSalle. Can anyone make sense of those three games for us?

 

Sure not really hard at all.

 

Ryle at Nippert: As I said before, tough start for young Bir at QB for CovCath. CovCath doesn't move the ball and so the "D" gets far too many minutes on the field and is dead tired by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

 

LexCath at LexCath: Bir gets some confidence in himself by throwing and completing some short passes all due to CovCath being able to run the ball and CovCath moves the ball up and down the field which gives the "D" rest.

 

LaSalle at LaSalle: Superior talent at each and every position for LaSalle. Size, speed, experience, and depth. Brightest point to me was the players didn't quit nor did the coaching staff quit on the kids.

 

So what have we seen so far this season from CovCath? Well they got waxed by the 2nd best team in NKy and one of the top 10 teams in Ky. Beat up a top 20 team from Ky on their home field and lost to one of the best team in Cincinnati this year. Honestly pretty much what most CovCath fans were thinking when the schedule came out for this year!

I wouldn't put much stock in this game if you're a CCH fan.

 

As stated before, they are EXTREMELY talented this year. Had the opportunity to see them against Cincy X last year and you could see the potential then.

So far this season, La Salle hasn’t faced an opponent anywhere near the caliber of a Greater Catholic League South team.

 

The Lancers have allowed just one offensive touchdown this season, and that didn’t happen until midway through the third quarter Friday after La Salle had already built a 40-0 lead. One of those scores came on Ball State-bound Ingle’s 20-yard interception return with 10:28 left in the first half.

 

Said CovCath coach Dave Wirth, a Moeller graduate: “This might be (La Salle’s) year in the South.”

 

Kummer, the Miami University recruit, completed 11 of 15 passes for 244 yards and two TDs. Rodriguez Coleman had four receptions for 102 yards and a TD, while fellow senior Matt Woeste had four catches for 92 yards and a score.

I am eager to see how the season plays out for LaSalle this year. Perhaps this will be their year in the GCL-S.
